Focus on the shows and tours!
We enjoyed our first visit to Out of Africa. We were lucky that the day worked out, a Thursday before the park would be closed for two days due to rain. You drive to the main parking lot, park and head to the entrance ticketing area. (Both our AAA or AARP membership gave us a 20% discount for our party of 4.) We were given a map and schedule of what would be happening with times and location. For us things started around 11 and included a critter talk, the safari bus tour, tiger splash, a reptile talk and a carnivore walk and feed. We left via the shuttle back to the entrance at 3. We had a light lunch snack at one of the snack bars. The shows are the key. It’s a must to see them. The animal enclosures are utilitarian in nature. The shuttle bus guides know where to look for animals in the enclosures to see the animals. My tip is to have small bills to tip the drivers and guides that go the extra mile helping.

The Love these people show the animals in their care!

It's evident that the staff deeply care about the animals they rescue and care for. Their passion shines through in everything they do. It's truly heartwarming to see such dedication. Out of Africa is not just a wildlife park; it's a sanctuary where animals are loved and respected. I highly recommend visiting for an unforgettable experience."

Best way to experience the park is with a sleep out. It's well put together. You pick your spot and stay the night. You can bring whatever sleeping gear you want. I chose to sleep out in my sleeping bag. You can wander the park from the time you arrive till the next day. All the animals seem to be alert as the sun rises. It's very peaceful and a good opportunity to enjoy the park without the daily crowds. No shuttles, just you and the animals

Less than expected considering the cost of the tickets for the 1 hour super mog adventure for our group of 8 (4 kids and 4 adults). Lots of animals we didn't get to see even though we arrived at opening since it was going to be so hot, but most of the smaller animals were visible. The grand girls did have fun getting to feed the giraffes and getting a 'kiss' in the process. Seeing some of the other animals up close was great (lions, tigers, water buffalo, etc) and we learned a lot from our guide. But there is no place to get out of the heat. Although they serve food there, I would recommend leaving for a restaurant nearby and then coming back if you are making a day of it. They do provide misters at the shuttle stops, but when we first inquired about buying cold bottled water since the vending machine was broken, they didn't have any; luckily an hour later they did. Plenty of parking and restrooms but there is no place to fill a re-useable water canteen.

Went with our 11 year old granddaughter. The animals were awesome and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. We would definitely do again. Just be prepared for the heat in the summer.

FAMILY? KIDS? YES!!!!! Bring your kids!!! How many times as a parent do you go to a zoo and the animals are lethargic, cramped in a cage, and the zoo is more abut selling merchandise, than the experience of what YOUR KIDS want to see. Lets be real, even as an adult, we want to truly see more. Well, Out of Africa blew me away with the tour. The place is simple. The wildlife park is very vast, and allows the animals to really roam. I wondered by this, if the animals would hide, and be a bummer to not see much. Not the case. It is as if the animals want the attention. And with frequent visits by trainers, and staff, these animals seem to want the interaction. I must say, I was amazed when the Rhino handler called the rhino by name, like calling a dog, and this huge magnificent animal came to play. You can read the activities here and make your own plan. I am writing to give the comfort to parent, this park will be a thrill for your family. The owner, I believe she said her name was Prarrie, is out and about and I could see how much she cares. This is not a corporate, money making amusement park. This is a beautiful sanctuary for a variety of animals that love the trainers. The mountain lion literally was purring as we were with the handler by the fence.
My daughter is an animal sketch artist ( Grace Olivia animal artist ) and she was able to capture so many close photos.

Thinking about going, well just go. You will love Out of Africa

This park is definitely a bit underwhelming compared to some of the zoos or comparable parks I have been to in my life.

It's clear to me that the staff here are very passionate about their work and care about the animals.

However, the facilities definitely feel a bit run down. The park is about an hour and a half away from Phoenix, so if you're in the area it could be something to do, but I don't think it's worth coming solely for this park, unless you have young kids.

Parking is super easy, and getting tickets wasn't too difficult overall. The shows were fun, but a bit short, I still think you can have a good time here, just don't expect anything you haven't seen before.

Not worth the money. Giraffes did not even move. Very disappointing for the money that we spent. Barely any animals. Drove from Phoenix and a couple waste of time. Would never recommend 😡

We went in the morning the day after they (carnivores) had been fed and some of the animals may have been a little slow to get out and about. Also, we were there the day of the eclipse which may have had some effect as well. Our driver for the shuttle around the park, Richard, was most welcoming/accommodating and full of "dad" jokes. Our safari guide (Clay?) was very knowledgeable, but his delivery was very quick and sometimes difficult to understand. The staff who presented for the shows did a good job and the connection they have with the animals was obvious. They have quite a variety of animals, especially for a facility that has no funding other than admission fees. It is definitely worth the trip.

Though I’m not a fan of caged animals on display, they did look well cared for and the enclosures were large. Our tour guide was a fabulous and informative young lady, that made our adventure fun. I was glad my grandchildren got to feed the giraffe and see all the different animals up close. Overall, it was a good time and the kiddos really enjoyed it.

I give our visit a rating of 3. The reason why I'm rating our visit as a three is due to the fact that my family wasn't able to experience the full tour experience we paid for. Instead, there weren't any shuttles available until two hours after we arrived. So we had to walk and due to us walking we didn't get to do all the activities we paid for. Another issue was that the animals weren't even available for viewing. All the animals that were visible seemed to be very low energy and looked very miserable. It's wasn't a great experience for me nor my family at all!
