The Castle of Lorca is the hallmark of the city, symbol of power and the incessant struggle between the Nasrid kingdom of Granada and the Crown of Castile. The castle-fortress is a place where history is lived first hand through exhibitions, workshops for the whole family, guided tours and extraordinary activities throughout the year. In this space, Ben Sakar (the Hawk's Son), the virtual mascot of the castle will show you scenarios as emblematic as the walls, the stables, the cisterns, the Tower of the Spur, the Tower Alfonsina or the Jewish Synagogue.

This is the most important sight in Lorca. Updated and visitor-friendly. High on a hill with terrific views. Right next door to the Lorca parador which, unlike the castle, is of recent construction but is built in a style that mimics the ancient castle. Very...More

It was a pleasant surprise to find the castle did not close midday. For €6 each we felt it was worthwhile for the audio tour. Slightly disappointed that the English dropped out towards the end and we could only get French. All the signs were...More

Interesting visit and some of the views special. Disappointing that we could not access some of the attraction because of limited opening times and English speaking guide. It was okay. Cafe not great.

In the castle there are expositions and towers that have stairs and would not be possible to accede, but the fortress has outdoor paths suitable for wheelchairs. You can visit our website to see some photos of te castle
