Talk about a cool treasure hunt! This place is great, with huge dioramas that someone spent a lot of time on. You can find all sorts of little Easter Eggs in the different displays. Very cool! Also, check out their entrance for a large selection of LEGO sets.

I visited this Museum with my 78 year old dad. He was like a kid in a candy store with excitement. There were so many miniature trains in various, detailed scenarios. Kudos to the staff that puts it together and maintains it. We also enjoyed the Scavenger Hunt too. Wow, what a nice hidden gem in Frederick.

Very nicely done exhibition of model train layouts, laced with clever pop cultural references. (The Doctor Who diorama near the entrance was my personal favorite.) don't miss the Lego exhibit in the back room either. They have a scavenger hunt for the kids, and it has both basic and expert options; expert is good for teenagers and keeps them engaged.... More

The Roads and Rails Museum is a delightful surprise. The landscapes are captivating with remarkable and witty details (Check out the film that is playing on the drive in movie theater screen). The creators have a droll sense of humor. You do not have to be a model train enthusiast to enjoy the Roads and Rails Museum.

A large and interesting model of railroad, towns, including circus, zoo, farms and so so on. A lot of tiny details. Made with humor and love. You walking around the model several times and every round you find something new and fun.

We came here on a rainy day with two kids under 9 years. They were amused by the details and there was much to see, and take in. The weird thing is that it is a slice of America but in a mix n' match sort of way. Things are not consistently from the same time in the same scenes... More

We visited the Saturday of Father's Day weekend. It wasn't very busy and the layouts had a lot of detail. Even our adult daughter enjoyed it. Children would enjoy it too, especially boys. Baby boomers will enjoy the nostalgia and memories that it brings back! Well worth an hour or two of your time!

Every review for this place is right on the money. Roads and Rails really is enjoyable. I was blown away by the detail and the amount of work that went into building the exhibits. We live just about 30 minutes from Frederick...so, not a far drive. I wouldn't have been thrilled with a longer drive for this display. This mama... More
