We visited this establishment with my two grandchildren. I wasn't sure if they liked it more than I did because I was fascinated with all the movement of the trains and the detail of everything.

The train setups are very interesting to adults who can study the layout and appreciate the tiny details. There are many buttons to push for small actions, but our 5 yr. old granddaughter who LOVES real trains was quickly bored, and very disappointed that she...More

Recently a friend told me about a train garden in Frederick Maryland. I myself have a train garden so I’m very critical of other train gardens. I was extremely impressed with the detail and imagination that was put into this display. Worth every penny of...More

Bored this MLK holiday, too cold to hike, sitting at home, 45 min from Frederick, saw this place on Trip Advisor. Little villages, figures, and trains sound great to my husband, who loves this sort of thing, so away we went. Tucked in a building...More

My husband recently took our 8 year old grandson to visit the museum. They both loved all of the displays of trains and villages. Such a wonderful time for them to spend together and enjoy.

This permanent display is amazing in its detail and variety. The reasons for 4 marks instead of 5 is that the toilets needed a serious cleaning, a lot of trains weren't running, and the place is showing its age. Still, if you're in the area...More

The Roads and Rails Museum is a hidden-gem in the Shab Row area of Frederick. They have a "play-along" activity which has you searching their displays for characters which is great for kids! Highly entertaining for the entire family.

We visited the Roads and Rails Museum this morning. What a great hidden gem here in Frederick. The personnel were friendly and considerate. Our 9 year old son who has high functioning autism had lots of questions, but the gentleman who was working on the...More

This miniature city is very similar to Roadside America up in Pennsylvania though smaller in scale. However this miniature is much cleaner and better maintained. The site is definitely geared towards kids and they have lots of buttons to push which turn on different features....More
