This beach is the second most crowded place we have visited on our 3 month trip across Spain and Portugal. The beach is very pretty but Galicia has many many pretty beaches your time is better spent so where else. We were there on a week day in July both of the beaches huge parking lot were full so we directed to a makeshift parking area about 1/2 a mile up the road. After are walk to the beach entrance area we arrive at what could best be described as pandemonium with hundreds of people waiting to squeeze down a single staircase to the beach while hundreds more were trying to couple. Some people tried to form a que so the two ladies checking reservations could scan the entrance tickets but many others simply jumped to the front of the line. After about 25 minutes wait we got to the top of the stairs and made our way down to the beach. On the beach there were at least one thousand people all milling about and taking selfies and trying to make the best of the situation. The other issue was that on the day we visited the park only had one working toilet (which was in the mens toilet so women needed someone to guard the door which cost one euro to use. While it was not a horrible experience (the beach is very pretty) I would definitely not visit knowing what I now know. Galicia has much more to offer.

We stayed in Ribadeo for visiting this wonder! It is stunning to say the least! We went by late evening and the sky was slightly overcast, so the crowd was less. Worth a visit. Got soaking wet as the waves lashed against the rocks, but no complains! Be careful while walking around.

What an amazing site!
Visits are possible only during low tide (+/- 2 hours from lowest point of tide). You have to get the permit (free) online before going there, it’s easy and google will point you to the right official Galician website.
There is free parking closeby, a restaurant with clean toilets close to the parking.
Then you go down a couple of stairs to the beach, which is absolutely beautiful, with amazing rock formations that gave the beach the name.
At the very lowest point of the tide you can actually continue around the eastern tip and get to another beach with easier access.
Lifeguards are at the beach, also guides for guided tours.
Please take your garbage with you and if you’re a smoker it should be logical that you don’t throw the cigarette buts on the beach. (Unfortuantely we saw it all).
Don’t be disappointed, in season the beach will never be quiet (850 permits per day are issued), so pictures of the catedrais will most probably always have people on them.

One of my most enjoyable days while walking Los Caminos del Norte. At Ribedeo Checked with the tourist office , the low tide at the Playas de las Catedrales (you only have 2 hours to walk on the beach and walk under the rock formation ) You can organize a cab ( There is public transport but it is time-consuming) The cab will drop you off and pick you up at an agreed time or you can call the cab when you finish . I strongly recommend a visit if you are near Bibedeo.

Accessed down uneven, steep & sand covered steps, the beach is beautiful, with sand shelving gently to the sea. The rocks & caves are stunning.
We visited on a damp Saturday morning in late September and it was crowded with coach loads to the point you couldn't see into some of the caves. I dread to think what the place would be like on a sunny day in peak season.

As Catedrals Beach is a sand beach with a lot of lovely rock formations and it is located in the surroundings of Ribadeo, a town in the North-Eastern part of Galicia Region, in the North of Spain. It is a wonderful place, where you can walk, relax and see the beach, the sea and the rock formations. Really, you can see some wonderful rocks, especially the rock columns, which seems a real cathedral (it is the reason of the name of the beach). Also you can see little caves and hidden holes, which are very nice. Top in the region!
On the other hand, when we visited the place it was full of people (in the middle of october-2021), so I do not want how many people there are here in summer.

Not worth it. The beach by itself is nice but the amount of visitors that we encountered in august makes it definitely not worth it. It was impossible to proper pictures. Nevertheless, I would consider visiting this beach in June or September.

Extremely overcrowded. Two very large car parks almost full when we arrived and a coach park where I counted 8 coaches and they kept on coming… Queues up and down to the beach. The beach is beautiful and the formations lovely but too busy to be enjoyable. Some of the beaches around the British coastline are equally lovely and much quieter. My advice is don’t bother

Catedrais Beach, on Spain's northwest coast, is a beautiful natural creation, in my opinion. As a beach lover, I like this phenomenon, which is one of the best-kept secrets in this region. I've traveled to many countries, but none compare to Spain, especially when visiting a seaside place like Catedrais Beach. It is assuredly to reach the world-famous beach at any time recognition of natural arches made in the rocks.

This is an experience you cannot miss. Make sure to plan ahead if you are going in high season because you will need to get tickets in advance. You also need to make sure the times of the low tides in order to access the beach.
Words cannot explain the beauty of this beach teaming with nature. The water carved caves, the sea life on the walls, and the imposing cliffs make this an authentic natural paradise. Beautiful!
