This was one of our most moving experiences in Spain. To visit a mikveh that hasn't been used in over 600 years but is still in perfect condition was very special.

It would have been nice if it were open. There were a couple of tours, but we were too late for that, and I'd have like to have been able to go in regardless.

Besalu offers a great perspective of an old Jewish quarter including a miqve and the remaining ruins of a synagogue. The town itself is worth at least a couple of hours stroll.

To see such a well preserved site is rare! For Thisbe interested in Jewish life in the 12th and 13th centuries, thus well preserved mikvah should not be missed. Pick the key up at the tourist info office.
