We did three tours. Started with Balcony house then did Long House and the next morning did Cliff Palace. I loved the Long House tour. It was right before the Memorial week end so it wasn't entirely packed. I loved the walk in. The ranger...More

This is a 2 hour ranger tour that starts at Wetherill Mesa info desk. Takes about 2 1/2 hours, sneakers or hiking shoes are a must. Definitely recommend because the dwellings are so amazing.

By all means while in Mesa Verde try to book one of the ranger lead hikes which take you into one of the sites. You cannot truly appreciate what these dwellings are like from afar.

Located on Wetherill Mesa, Long House is the second largest cliff dwelling in the park. $5 tickets are required for this 2 1/2 hour ranger led tour. You will need to get them at the Colorado Visitors Center in Cortez (where we got ours-only available...More

The only thing about Wetherill Mesa is that there is nothing but walking here unless you bring a bicycle. There are up and down hills here so in the summer be prepared with lots of lots of water for the hike here. The Long House...More

Our tour of long house was amazing. Our ranger, red beard (didnt catch his name), was so so good. His style was compelling, smart and gave a deeper understanding of the people who called Long House home. He made poignant connections to the present, including...More

Long House is on Wetherill Mesa, only open in summer, but check with website or Facebook and, yes, you have to get a tour. You will be walking on the Mesa and walking on the ruin.
