Lovely venue, quite different from other theatres, and a really friendly atmosphere . A Christmas Carol was excellent and the whole cast worked so hard , lovely singing, quality acting . Lovely to see Scrooge in the foyer afterwards and be able to congratulate him in person too! Only disappointment was the food, lukewarm tea, no potato salad, sandwiches not... More

My wife and I visit the Shakespeare Tavern every year during the Christmas Season to see a performance of A Christmas Carol. The actors are great, the setting is perfect, and the price of tickets are very reasonable. Make it a part of your Christmas Season.

I teach Shakespeare classes in college, and I often take my smaller classes to performances at the Shakespeare Tavern. Not having pre-assigned seats can make the initial rush into the performance area a bit of a zebra push to the waterhole, and the cafeteria food-line can be a bit MacShakespeare. But the shows themselves are fun, and often are very... More

We have been attending the Shakespeare Tavern irregularly for over twelve years. We will go frequently for a few months then not go for a half year, and so on. There are no surprises. It is a consistent, intimate, maybe even charming, venue to experience Shakespeare. We have attended better Shakespeare, from the Globe in London to Lincoln Center in... More

The show is very interesting. However, you need to wait for an hour before the show, If you want a good place to sit. You can easily find parking across the street for a reasonable rate (5$ for six hours). It will take something around five hours for the show and food together. I recommend it to anyone who is... The blend of very good pre-show dining (if you so choose) at a reasonable price, an excellent performance of Othello and an intimate, unstuffy venue makes Shakespeare very accessible to all guests. We were visiting from out of town and made a great choice in spending an evening here.

We attended the Tavern on a whim on a Sunday. We had a great time and the play- Othello was wonderful. The production was first class and the actors brilliant. it was full on from 6.30pm until close around 10pm. The meal was very nice and had a home cooked feel about it. After many weeks of travel we loved... More

It was a cozy setting, the performance of Midsummer Nights' Dream was a more comical version, but I enjoyed it. The ratatouille I had for dinner was very homey and the strawberry shortcake at intermission tasted homemade. Delish.
