We weren't sure about Fernbank but headed over. What a surprise? The exhibitions were pretty good--and they just opened an exhibition on gladiators organized by the Colosseum folks in Rome. Probably a little over the head of most children but lots of stuff they would...More

Natural history museums are my favorite type of museums to visit and I work/studied/know art and design for a living. This place is the most expansive natural history museums I have been to. The museum itself is 3 floors. The first floor has a new...More

I heard many mention the Fernbank and a little about what this museum offered so I decided to explore with my granddaughter since I had her for the week end. It was a nice experience for me and after my granddaughter finally warmed up to...More

Fernbank Natural Science Museum satisfies visitors in all seasons and weathers. The central structure is almost worth the visit in itself. The three-story atrium houses two enormous dinosaur skeleton replicas plus several overhead flyers. A third of its wall is open to a view of...More

I took by kids here about 15 years ago and went back today with my grandkids. Many of the permanent exhibits have not been changed at all. In the science room, many of the exhibits were broken or showing their severe wear. In the play...More

My husband and I came here. It was an ok museum. It would not have been worth my time Without the special exhibit. It was extremely overpriced for what you got to experience. My youngest son would have been fairly entertained. I won't go back.

As a European its not easy to 'judge' an American museum, it's just another way of trying to 'sell' education... For me it was a bit like Disneyland in a Dinosaur time shift, but in a positive way :) Very Positive for me was their...More

Their dinosaur display was a wonder and they had lovely films plus a cafe with a pianist This was one of my favorite sights although one needed a cab to get there.

A great sized museum to hit for half a day or so. The exhibits are very well done and don't forget to take a walk outside. They currently have some wonderful structures made of wood along the path. One is shaped like a tulip. Can't...More

I love the museum but I am too easily distracted by the learning experiences/tests of skill displays added for the children....everything gets too loud, clanging, banging and kids acting like kids not children. "Wild goats" When quiet, it is a chapel of learning.
