Civil War on steroids!

If you are a Civil War buff or not this is the place to check it out. My Wife isn't a fan of the war but enjoyed it. Very well presented and easy to follow.

The Swan House is lovely and on the grounds there is a lot of history about the area, including early frontier homes and a lovely museum.

It just hit me that the family and I visited a HISTORY museum on PRESIDENT'S day. How fitting! To preface, I have a young son who really digs history, and a younger daughter who is just happy to go somewhere. That said, I will say that the majority of this museum isn't catered towards kids. My son is already asking... More

The entire family loved this museum, between the historical elements, art, architecture and nature! The audio tour of the civil war exhibit was fantastic. I could have spent 3 hours there alone. The folk art exhibit was interesting. The Native American exhibit was sobering- we always forget that they were here first. Kids liked the farm and even Swan House.... More

The vast amount of Civil War memorabilia held in the Atlanta History Center is mind boggling. The houses on the grounds were great and the guides were extremely knowledgeable.

If you are looking to gain some knowledge on Southern history, this is the place. Exhibits are very detailed and interesting. The property itself has beautiful grounds, and many other buildings of interest, including the Swan House.

Sadly overlooked by most visitors. Great opportunity to see period properties and to learn the history of key periods - ' the Civil War. Good exhibition about Native Americans too.

We visited this museum one afternoon. It has a beautuful setting with exhibits inside and outside. Parking is free. We enjoyed our visit very much. It is well laid out with information on local history. We especially enjoyed the part on the Civil War and actual war artifacts. Our ticket included a visit to the Margaret Mitchell house. We did... The weather was not great, so we decided to go to the Atlanta History Center, near us in Buckhead. What a great choice. We toured the museum, had lunch at the Swan Coach House Restaurant and the meandered through the Swan House next door. The Swan House is a beautiful mansion within the campus and it give you the sense... More
