Go See the Pandas Before They Go Home!
I was not going to miss seeing the pandas while visiting Atlanta knowing they are going home to China next year. It was definitely worth it! It was a nice day, so animals were mostly out of their dens/interiors, and it was in the middle of the week, so not too crowded. Our time spent at the panda exhibit was beautiful. I was able to see them well without a lot of people blocking views. Each one was out and eating or playing. I also fed the giraffe, and that was another beautiful experience. If you are a zoo goer, you will definitely enjoy this one. It's definitely one of the best.

    See the pandas first
Really nice zoo. Go as soon as they open and get to the pandas to watch them eat because later in the morning/day they will be sleeping. The gorillas were also great, esp the toddler and new baby. Also, the cooler weather helped because the animals were all active. The elephant encounter was fun and worth the extra money. Overall a great day!

    Love those pandas
We enjoyed the layout of the zoo. It felt like walking through a forest instead of there being big spaces between exhibits. Of course, the pandas were the highlight. I would swear that one was purposely posing for us. Visiting the restaurant was also a plus. Food was good and service speedy.

    Nice but Expensive
We’ve been to zoos all around the world and would put rate this one in the upper middle third of them. For what it provides, we felt it is too expensive and wished it focused more on fewer areas. The best exhibit is the Elephant one followed by the gorillas and monkeys. While nice for a day out (and better than the Atlanta Aquarium) I cannot say I plan to go back.

    A fun visit!
We visited the zoo first thing in the morning on a Thursday during winter break. The zoo was busy, but the line to enter moved quickly. There were a few animals that were not out for observation due to the chilly weather or other reasons- but we saw nearly all the animals we had hoped to see (minus a giraffe). We were set on seeing the pandas before they are sent to China. I’m so glad we saw them, two were out and about eating bamboo and two were in their enclosures snoozing. The exhibit was busy but the crowds moved through nicely allowing folks a chance to get nice photos. Some other animal highlights for me, my husband, and our 7-year-old daughter were the elephants, red pandas, flamingos, otters, and gorillas. The sections are split up nicely and the flow worked well. We enjoyed our visit.

    PANDAS
We had an excellent visit this week to see pandas. I have been wanting to see them my whole life and had to get there before they are sent back to China. We arrived at opening (10am) and went straight to the panda exhibit. I highly recommend going first thing in the morning. All of the animals were out and active. We got lots of great photographs. There were staff members there to share information about the animals and answer any questions. We visited the pandas again before we left and they were all napping back in the corners by that point. The zoo was overall very nice and very clean. It took us approximately 4 hours to casually view the entire zoo.

Fun Family Day at Atlanta Zoo
Visited Atlanta Zoo with my kids. Great experience! Loved the panda exhibit and vibrant bird paradise. Some animals weren't available, and many eateries were closed. Extra fees for certain attractions were a bit of a letdown. Overall, a fun day out!

    Great zoo
Great zoo, one of the best I’ve been to in the US. Pandas were great, I hope they work out a deal to bring them back in the future. Lots of animals actually playing and doing activities. Would definitely recommend.

    Good zoo
We visited the zoo in mid-Jul, so it was a hot and humid day. This zoo is small so it should take you no more than 4hrs to walk through. There was a café for lunch or snacks. Our highlight was seeing a white panda. I believe there are several, but we only saw at least 2 of them. We have been to several other zoos so each one is unique. We were able to feed a giraffe, with added costs, but it doesn't compare to other giraffe feeding at other state zoos. There was a farm area where you go to see some goats, that is always fun. Great zoo, visiting for the first time can be a great experience.

Went for the pandas, stayed for the zoo
We decided to take a weekend trip to Atlanta to see the pandas before they left for China. This was our first stop on our travels and it was great! We got there early and headed straight to the pandas! They were cute and out eating! Plenty of space to see them and take pictures. The rest of the zoo was nice too! All the animals were out. We saw the baby rhino play and run around. We also got to see elephants, gorillas, and the peacock was out and had his tail up! It wasn't too busy, but we were there on a Friday morning. Also be prepared to pay for parking in the parking lot. Other then that the zoo was peaceful and a nice walk after a long drive.

Called before I drove over for my scedualed entrance day and time (Covid rules) to make sure it would still be open on Heavy Rain Day. I was told yes, everything would be open. Arrived, paid my 12 dollars for parking. Walked to gate to be told 75% of the exibits and animals couldn't be seen today due to the rain, (btw. rain was ending for day at this point 10:00am . but animals still not coming out.) They gave me a refund on my tickets because I live to far away to return on another date. However was told nothing could be done for the 12 parking I had just paid for right in front of main entrance because they don't run the parking lots. - So haw hard would it be to put a sign up before people pay to park that the zoo is basicly closed that day?

We took my grandson to the Zoo using the free Library pass - look on Zoo Atlanta's website for details. This pass allowed free entry for the 5 of us (grandson is 2 and was already free).
Many of the animals were not out due to the cold weather. We would have been upset if we had paid full price to see only a portion of the animals.
However, since it was free, we had a wonderful time! Our grandson loves seeing all the flamingoes, elephant, gorilla, and various birds.
I'm sure a visit in warmer weather would be even better!Looking forward to doing that later in the year.

Thank you for your feedback. In case you are interested, we do have a discounted winter rate to compensate for some of the animals being in their behind the scenes habitats. The cashiers always have a list of animals that will not be out so that you can make your decision accordingly.

The new exhibit is fantastic with the giraffes, elephants, and zebras. Absolutely fantastic! I thought the zoo has done a wonderful job making it COVID safe. The last two times we’ve been have been so pleasant. I love that they’re doing timed reservations so that the park is not overcrowded.

I was impressed with the zoo during today's visit. Thay have put in very sensible measures to deal with the Covid pandemic. Visitors must follow a specific path but they still get to see all the exhibits. Areas where people can stand and social distance are clearly marked (although people were not necessarily following those rules). Good - masks were required for inside exhibits. Bad - a bunch of people were not wearing masks outside and weren't social distancing. Good - lots of hand sanitizer stations. It's a pretty decent zoo with pandas and tanukis.

As far as zoos go, the Atlanta zoo isn't the biggest or most impressive I've ever visited. However, the staff is AMAZING! We got there early and one lady took a lot of extra time to talk to us about different animals.

My daughter has developed a severe fear of bees and is autistic. She ended up having a meltdown early on. Another staff member walked with us and helped us find a quiet place for her to relax and grabbed her a sensory bag. The fidgets included helped distract her enough to finish the zoo.

The zoo also had lots of hand sanitizer and wasn't crowded. People were staying a respectful distance away and wearing masks. Definitely a covid friendly outing!

Well done Zoo Atlanta with your social distancing safety policy implementation! My family and I were thoroughly impressed with our visit. The timed entry, one-way path, marked 6'+ viewing spaces, and multiple hand sanitizer stations are all great initiatives. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly, offering nearly personalized information and question answering. Crews were constantly around the facility cleaning surfaces and rails. The animals literally interacted with us, especially the elephants, otters and many birds. They willingly came closer to the viewing areas as we were there. The spacing out of the crowd made our visit much more enjoyable. We, and other guests, were able to go at our own pace and enjoy plenty of viewing opportunities. We look forward to going back very soon! Well done!

My husband and I take our toddler to zoo atlanta every year for educators day because you know, this is the time we can afford it. We were excited about our free yearly visit but it ended with a lot of disappointment. We entered the zoo around 3 due to the traffic and parking. We walked around and even skipped some attractions to try to make it to the train ride and carousel at the end. We walk up to the booth at 4:21 and I see another group purchasing tickets but a security guard closed the rope and walked away. I had to walk up to the booth and ask what was going on and ask “are you guys not selling tickets anymore???”. The lady rudely waved her hand at me and my toddler and said “I stop sales at 4:15”. But this is inaccurate because I just saw a family buying tickets. Now I have an upset toddler asking over and over to get on the train. It is posted NO WHERE that ticket sales end at 4:15. There wasn’t even a sign up. What is the point of being open until 5 on a very crowded day and not have attractions open until at least 4:45. That makes no sense. It was a whole crowd of people with their kids looking disappointed with no explanation or apology. Everyone does not have a zoo membership and can come whenever they please. This was a blatant lack of care for people’s time or socioeconomic status. I am not surprised because this country shows us over and over how they don’t care about educators. I couldn’t even give my son the one thing he was looking forward to due to your lack of care and respect for peoples time.

Pricing issue is full of joke and unjustified! That need to be stopped. It’s like a grab of hard earned money of people these days. Shameful!

I had a membership from other Zoo in other state that I am entitled to get half price admission to enter the Zoo Atlanta. I was asked to pay two different prices on a Wednesday and on a Sunday. This is ridiculous.

The signs said $29.95, the half price is $14.95 plus 8.5% tax which comes to $16.22 on Wednesday compare to $15.45 plus tax = $16.76 on Sunday that the cashier is trying to overcharge me. Why the sign and the cashier charging me differently? That’s illegal activity to do.

They didn’t do enough to keep up with the conditions of the Zoo and the site of the giant pandas. They didn’t get to put all 4 giant pandas out to see. Very disappointing. Website was unclear and not being continuously updated.

I am a giant panda fan. I expected to see all 4 but only saw 2 on Wednesday and 3 on Sunday. Where’s the other one that I wanted to see.

The Panda gift shop didn’t stock that good variety of merchandise especially shirts and stuffed animals. All looked boring and full of junk.

The Vice President of membership of this Zoo Atlanta gave me this complimentary card for free admission. I don’t feel welcomed and the behavior of worker at the zoo admission was unfriendly. They never properly apologized to me for the inconveniences and frustration I faced.

What an insulting to give me that complimentary admission card to me that expire in a week instead within a year. It’s like a slap in the face. I go back home next day to NYC area. It’s worthless and useless to use.

Thank you for having a worse experience of all these visits I have came to Zoo Atlanta. Years back it was wonderful and best times. What happened with that?

CEO of this Zoo need to take pay cut for not doing the job as expected to be.

Cold weather and a mid-week visit meant the crowds were completely absent during an afternoon visit. We were some of about 100 visitors at the zoo today. It was great to be able to see the animals out and about, though they might be more active in warmer weather. Loved watching the gorillas and orangutans especially. Animals generally looked well cared for and enclosures were in good condition.

Most vendors were closed, but there was a place to get hot coffee as well as a full service lunch cafe.

Use the online planning tool to see when different creatures are being fed. We saw lots of animals eating.

The Atlanta Zoo is working hard to use the land they have acquired, and modernize exhibits. They have a few great exhibits: the Giant Pandas, the space for the baboons, the Sun bear overlook. The new elephant center was fantastic even though we never saw an elephant there.

This was first week of March and for some reason the giraffes and elephants were not out. No orangutans out. No rhinos. But the baboons, lions, tigers, red panda and giant panda were all visible.

The Zoo has a good selection to see beyond what I mentioned. Reptile house, monkeys, and play areas for example.

Thank you so much for visiting Zoo Atlanta and leaving a review. The first week of March, 2020 has been very wet. Our giraffes will not be out when the savanna is wet or muddy. Too dangerous. The elephants were in their indoor habitat, the Zambezi Elephant Center, that is open to the public. We are very proud of it as well as the African Savanna. Rhinos are not here yet. We do expect them this year. Orangutans are not cold weather friendly. It must feel like 45 degrees for them to be out, and some of our older orangutans want it warmer. We do appreciate your kind comments and hope you will return again soon.
