Great view from top but staircase not for the elderly

The staircase to the top is not for the elderly or for those climbing stairs but the view from the top is wonderful. Lots of interesting information about the tower is on hand.

Thanks for your review. Keep in mind that this tower is an early 17th century fortification which used to be manned by soldiers. Four hundred years down the time line it became a tourist attraction and a heritage site so structural modifications are prohibited. Trust this is understood and appreciated. More

We walked around St Paul's Bay to have a look at this tower/fort from the outside, but were pleasantly surprised to see the information in our guide book was out of date and they now open on Friday afternoons. Although the building is not huge, it was well worth the 2 euro admission. They had a video (not great quality... More

Hi James G. Thanks for finding the time to review us. Glad you enjoyed your visit. We never received any comments about the sound quality of the informative video we run at the Tower. This was produced in 2015 using the latest HD quality sound and video technology and displayed on a standard 28inch LED flat screen. Surely its not... More

Great piece of history in this run down, downmarket 'resort'. Having walked along the dreamt coastline from Bugibba (or, as one reviewer called it, 'the armpit of Malta'), it was good to come across a decent bit of architecture. It sums the island up, that they demolished the original stone staircase in the 1960's to widen the road. Why anybody... More

Hi Brian T, we are glad you enjoyed your visit at Wignacourt Tower and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Please note that the tower's staircase was not demolished to widen the road. Remember also that in 1961 Malta was still under British rule. Historic rumours have it that a high ranked British Military Officer claimed... More

Visited the tower which looks lovely from the outside and had no idea there is do much to see inside - a great store room at ground level living quarters at 1st floor complete with the original door from 1610 and then incredible views from the roof - absolutely worth the visit

Small but interesting. Tricky climb to roof but well worth it for the view. Room well decorated to give a feel of life in the tower.

Externally modest, but internally fascinating and a piece of military architecture brought to life vividly by our excellent guide. Great history lesson about the Tower and it's role in Maltese history over the centuries. The climb up to the first level is challenging, up a metal spiral staircase, and then getting to the roof up steep stone steps left all... More

Interesting little stop on our walk about. Very historical and only €2. Views from the top of the tower are therapeutic.

On entering, you watch a short video then are free to wander this small tower, the views from the roof top are spectacular. If you have any questions, the curator will happily answer them, very knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in Malta's history.
