I always like to visit the Ranger Station first, but this battlefield doesn’t really have one. If you’re looking for a stamp for your parks passport, go to The Tredegar Civil War Museum gift shop counter.

this by far is the best battlefield of the entire Richmond battlefield. markers about the little visitor area, and you just look out onto the open battlefield and just try to understand how things happened McClellans last battle of the Peninsula campaign of 1862

Signs indicated a "visitor's center." The only parking was limited and roadside. A local we spoke with said he's never seen it open. These grounds are walled and hold a cemetery. There are several roadside placards further along. Up the road on our right there...More

My wife and I stopped here on a trip from Richmond on a scenic bypass rather than interstate. On of my great grandfathers was wounded here and according to my mother, had scars on his face for the rest of his life. So, we stopped...More

I had this place mostly to myself since it was a very hot and humid day. There is a short section of trail that is in the woods but most of what I walked is in an open field. It's true what others said that...More

If you care at all about Civil War battles, it is always worth going to the actual field to see the topography. From reading, you might think that Malvern Hill is some kind of significant, tall hill. It's just a small rise in a field,...More
