What a great idea to have a canal walk through the River City, RVA. While not quite to the level of San Antonio's riverwalk and definitely not quite up to Oklahoma City's expansive and loaded river/canal area, the Canal Walk in Richmond has really done...More

I love walking along the canal walk. There are little bits of history tucked into the walk when you read the signs and the steel plate disks on the sidewalks. The bridge that crosses the river even has quotes on it that are very unique...More

If you love history and enjoy a nice walk, it would be a shame if you can't spend a few minutes looking at this lovely historic urban space. Framed by the old rail lines and the new flood walls, the architecture alone makes it worth...More

This was a lovely & peaceful walk. I enjoyed all the bridges, the 9-11 Memorial & the sites of downtown. I wanted to ride a bike but couldn't find where to get one. The boats were closed which was disappointing.

Canal Walk is such a plus for Richmond. It gives views of the James River with places to sit. Nice place to grad a sandwich sit and relax. The walkway makes it easy to walk push a stroller or wheelchair.

After walking out over the James we took the canal walk back to our hotel in Shockoe. It's a bit uneven but a much more pleasant walk than the streets and parts are quite beautiful. As always we love the cool murals and street art.

We were surprised to find this walk so close to our downtown hotel. The canal walk offers a little bit of history (through the signage) and some great views of the river. The trail is short, but leads to Belle Isle, so you can do...More

Really good historical and leisurely exercise experience. Take the boat ride - well worth it. Much of our history is covered here and I learn something new each time.

We were looking for something to do that was different. Even though we have lived in the area for more than 10 years we had never done the canal walk. What an interesting experience. We found a place to park off of 12th street and...More

OOPS I thought you were asking about the Canal Walk! Don't think they can come on the Canal Boat.
