Trani has a unique magic especially in early morning shadow play
May 2019
Trani belies the fact that its a territory much contested and you can feel the frisson in its architecture. This Templar Romanesque church is hemmed in by lesser buildings. Behind is the core of the medieval town with palaces and beside their rusticated charm and diamond-studded facades, its the cathedral that draws one to Trani. It has a unified impression with the sea to its left. If you are lucky the lower door to the crypt. Otherwise climb the steps to the upper level where only the back arcade of the original portico survives.
What i love about the cathedral is the exterior, magical in the early morning seen from the mole, as the sun defines the magnificent curves of the après. And as the light moves, so do the casting shadows lengthen or diminish . Trani has a unique magic.

Understated beauty

Came across this historically significant church from the Crusader era by chance. A small but imposing Romanesque building that has few visitors and that allows you to contemplate all the historical events here over the centuries. You won't need much time here but you will not be disappointed.

Hidden Gem of a church
Nov. 2018 • Couples
Stumbled onto this church and couldn't resist going inside. Is a very quaint church but the interior is very stark with high archway and high ceilings.

Beautiful from the outside
Jun. 2018
A pity it cannot be visited, architecture looks fascinating, pure Romanesque style, the historical significance is very important as well.

Fascinating from the outside!

This building is still under restoration. Access is not possible for the foreseeable future. A real pity to judge from the external appearance and the history associated with the site.

Not Much To See
May 2015 • Couples
This is a very old well preserved 12C church. It's very small and quaint and that's about all there is. If you've never seen an example of Romanesque archetecture then here's your chance but if you have, there are many better examples so don't go out of your way to see this one.
