It’s a tradition that you stop and see the Harvard statue. Just don’t touch it because apparently it’s not very clean.

It was amusing seeing visitors take photos and while doing so touching the shoes of the statue so much so that the bronze looks polished at the shoes.

It is just an old statue of one of the people that helped found Harvard. Could have been any of a number of folks who did more that Harvard to found the school.
