One of our favorite places to visit in Boston are the little shops just east of Porter Square along Mass Ave. There is a place to buy elegant hand made wrapping paper. A place for stocking stuffers. Across the street is a wonderful place to...More

Take the Red Line, and leave your car at Alewife station on a Saturday. You won't be sorry. Just use the day to explore Cambridge and Porter Square is a good place to end it n the evening. Music is at TOAD and the Lizard...More

Before the subway came Porter was just a wide place where Somerville Ave met Mass Ave and they had a Star Market. Porter has always been real neighborhood where people live and know each other, even if now they are too busy most of the...More

Less exciting than its counterparts like Central and Davis Squares but here, also you'll find shops worth stopping. Drop your kids off at the independent book store while you go into the bank or supermarket.

Few of the so-called squares in Cambridge are very charming; even Porter Square's more famous cousin, Harvard Square, has been taken over by cheap chain stores and a giant, depressing CVS. But Porter Square, with its all-dominating parking lot that is also usually overfull and...More

Nice small shopping area in a convenient site. With a Supermarket, DIY store, an excellent organic health foods store and other shops / cafes. Smallish car park but we have never had a problem parking. The area is very popular with the local University students.

While shopping along Mass Ave on a rainy day this square and T stop provided quick protection from the elements. Plenty of shopping, food and drink in the area.

Porter Square is far enough from Boston to chill a little but close enough to experience the city at anytime of day. From the variety of restaurants to a 24 hour supermarket, the area has everything you'll need while visiting.

I live near Porter Square and pass through this area nearly every day. It's a nice area and I feel safe, there is occasionally someone begging but in general there is no riff-raff. Another thing which I think is novel, there is no McDonalds/KFC/Pizza Hut...More

Standard sorts of businesses associated with daily living. Markets, restaurants, etc. has a truly filthy red line (subway) stop in need of general maintenance. No need to go here unless you live here.
