About
The Castello di Bracciano - a stone's throw from Rome - is one of the most impressive castles in Italy, Europe and the world. Completed in 1485 by the Orsini family, around an existing 12th century Vico fortress, it is one of the few renaissance castles in Italy that - thanks to the Odescalchi family - is open to the public. It also plays host to numerous weddings, galas and important cultural events throughout the year.

The Odelscalchi/Orsini castle on the top of a hill overlooks the town of Bracciano and the lake below.
The construction of the Odelscalchi castle dates back to 1470, in 1600 it was bought by the Orsini.
With the ticket it is possible to visit the reception rooms where daily activities took place. In the rooms you can admire the chestnut wood coffered ceiling. You go around different rooms and you can see the furniture, the armor, the kitchens, the beds, some paintings. With the €10 ticket you can also visit the Papal Hall. By adding three euros it is possible to visit the private rooms with furniture and completely frescoed ceilings with a guide.

The castle was built in the 15th century on a pre-existing Roman settlement. It was commissioned by Napoleone Orsini and later became the property of the powerful Odescalchi family. It features impressive architecture typical of the medieval and Renaissance periods. Its massive structure is characterized by towers, bastions and defensive walls. The interior of the castle preserves original furnishings, frescoes and period decorations. Over the centuries, the castle has had various purposes, including noble residence and military stronghold. It has been the scene of historical events and hosts stories linked to Italian aristocratic families. Bracciano Castle became internationally known when it was chosen as the venue for the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in 2006. The event attracted worldwide media attention. Today, Bracciano Castle is open to the public and also serves as a museum. you can explore its rooms, admire the original furnishings and enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Bracciano. It is used for cultural events, exhibitions and weddings. Its suggestive atmosphere and its panoramic position make it a fascinating place to carry out various activities. The ticket costs 10 euros for adults and 7 for children

Stunning renaissance and medieval castle in a commanding position, overlooking a beautiful ancient volcanic crater lake. The lovely rooms with an impressive furniture collection featured in the Netflix Medici series. A rare early chest has remarkable carving of courtly costumed figures who look late 15th century, including a woman in a wimple head dress. Impressive military architecture and armour. Walking the unpredictable twists of the Odescalchi stairs ramparts is like being in a Piranesi print. The breathtaking view across azure water to distant snow-capped Appenines in early April is world class.

A wedding venue not a castle - I do not see the logic of charging the same as to enter the coliseum to walk around someone’s wedding venue. A beautiful setting for a wedding but do not charge a family 34 euros to walk around looking at glasses and table decorations - this is surely a scam???

In short, I loved it. The town is beautiful and we stayed at the Castello. You have to keep in mind that it is far from Rome. I didn't have a car and that's why I had to opt for public transportation. You have to take a train from Rome to Tivoli and from Tivoli a bus that leaves you in San Gregorio de Sassola where the Castello Braccacio is located. It really was very good. We were finishing our vacation and spending two days walking around the town was relaxing.

The entrance is incredibly hard to find we walked round and round for a long time before we could find it and it required the help of some Italians. The castle is enormous and awe inspiring. But the only way to get an audio guide is through QR code. My phone had died, so we missed out, so make sure you have a fully charged phone and data. Entering the castle there is not much to see or appreciate, our initial sense was disappointing. But how wrong we were, the upper apartments, the views, all indescribable, what an amazing visit!!

A truly extraordinary visit. I really liked the fact of being free and listening to historical-artistic information from a well-made and cultured video guide. I found the science room and the view from the towers very impressive

Incredibly well preserved and maintained! This is a wonderful place to take a self-guided tour and experience a less well-known part of Italian history from the 1400s. Grand rooms with priceless artwork abound…the place is enormous and even in late July, was comfortable to tour. We spent two hours and went at our own pace. On a Monday around noon, we were virtually alone in the place. Highly recommend it

I visited the Castle last Saturday and, in addition to the traditional visit, it was also possible to attend the show "The Princess of the Lake" organized by the Elios theatre. The structure is beautiful and, thanks to the characters who interacted with the children along the entire route, my 4 and 3 year olds participated attentively from start to finish. Super recommended!!!!!

A very interesting visit to a perfectly preserved and very well maintained castle (it may be a coincidence but the property is private). On Sundays the price of the ticket included the guide, otherwise audio guides are made available. From the castle you can enjoy a splendid panorama. The only flaw in my opinion is the surcharge paid for visiting the apartments, which in my opinion is absolutely unjustified; for the rest everything is ok đź‘Ś
