Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This beautiful volcanic caldera lake loiters just below the cliffs of Castel Gandolfo. A symbiotic relationship. This is a delightful spot. Let your eyes do the work.

Great are to swim, hire a pedallo, paddle board or just relax by the lake. The only negative is no free parking. People who run the lake side beaches are very friendly. Prices good.

Beautiful small lake with nice beach clubs and small villages with lots of character. The hotel we stayed in, Locanda dei Ponteficce, has wonderful views but has no lift, is full of mosquitos and the top floor rooms bathrooms have such low ceilings that there are no showers, only seated bath tubs . Easy 40 minutes train connections with Central Rome.

We just loved this, an easy side trip from Rome, catch the Metro to Aragnina and get picked up, kayak the beautiful lake, hear the history, have a swim and eat some interesting pizza. I loved this hidden gem, got it on Booking.com..loved it

Got the train from Rome to Castel Gamdolfo (40 mins) and arrived right beside Lake Albano. The lake is absolutely beautiful. There are plenty of places to eat on the waterfront and up the hill where you’ll find the village. Definitely go if you can spend half a day out of Rome.

Such an amazing place to visit the lake is so beautiful with surrounding hills. Unfortunately the weather was cold, windy and raining. It’s much better during summer time.

Beautiful lake up in the hills outside of Rome. Very picturesque and scenic. Lots of photo ops. Much cooler in the summer than down below.

The lake is simply amazing. It's beautiful. Unfortunately, everything around it is just TERRIBLE! The way Italians "don't care" is ruining this place. It's unmaintained, dirty, garbage is lying everywhere. There is a former "Olympic park" which is rotting and rusting behind fence yet part of it is till used. Noone cares, noone maintains it. "Just hop on our kayaks and don't look around much, dear tourist" Also because there is a walk around it, the dog poop is lying everywhere. There is a rusty gate on one place which says "do not enter, falling stones", which was obviously kicked in and got pretty vandalized - on the other hand now you can at least get to the lake without fighting unmaintained vegetaion full of thorns, garbage, used condoms and whatever stuff. 1 star for amazing lake, 2nd star for not finding a dead body.

If you do Rome make sure you visit Lake Albanian, loads to do with kids and different beaches around the lake. We spent two hours in the kayak.
Hard going as it was windy, then some wind surfing. We then drove round the lake stopping at different points. Lots to do to kill a day or two. Loads of places to eat and we found a side road lay-by selling hot pig rolls. They we not to be missed.
