My family and I visited Little River Canyon National Preserve and while there decided to hike to Marthas Falls. We started from the Little River Falls parking lot. The NPS website lists the hike as 3/4 mile one way. For the most part the trail is relatively flat and of moderate difficulty. There are parts that are quite rocky but... More

Lovely views from the riverbed at these falls. Worth the short hike down to the water's edge. Some steep steps at the end; may. It be suitable for small children. 25-30minute hike in each direction from Little Canyon falls ramp

This is a great little hike and a beautiful area, however...please use caution if you decide to jump off and in the water. Seems too many out of towners don't know if you don't land just so, that you are probably going to bust a bone. It is a great place to swim but check out the area before you... More

This was my first trip to Martha's Falls "aka" Hippie Hole, I will be back and more prepared. The walk down isn't bad at all unless you have bad knees and problems with steps, however the treck back up the man-made stone steps was another story for me. I had to stop several times to catch my breath, but the... More

Great place for family fun. In addition to the atherosclerosis positive reviews here are a few tips : 1. Bring water shoes. Occasionally there is broken glass and you will be walking on rocks both in the water and outside the water. 2. The rocks in the water are extremely slippery. Go in monkey style on all fours and don't... More

This was the highlight of my trip, and I went to a lot of cool places. If you are in Alabama, you must go to the hippie hole! Leading down to the hole is a hike on steps(made out of rocks, so go slow) Caution: there is a bunch of teenagers there so it is not really a good place... More

These 53 foot falls creating this swimming canyon are so unique at the top of Look Out Mountain. They are beautiful & you feel as if you're back in the 60's/70's almost. No trash. No frills. Just the beauty of what God made!

From the parking lot at Little River Falls, it's a 3/4 mile hike on a rocky trail to a steep set of rock steps down to a great swimming area. Aside from the sign marking the entrance from the parking lot, the trail is not well marked; stay straight and on top of the ridge until you get to the... More

The falls are really beatiful. When we went it during the seasonal low flows in the canyon, that made it really easy to cross the river, that may not be possible during periods of higher flow.

This falls area is great, waterfalls, swimming holes and great scenery. Trail has roots and rocks so you need to be careful. People were swimming the water and some dived from rocks. That was for younger people.
