About
Experience nature from its core by bathing in the geothermal baths at Krauma. The hot water originates in Europe’s most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver, at a temperature of 100°C (212°F). To achieve the perfect bathing temperature we mix the hot water with cold water from OK. Krauma offers five relaxing natural geothermal baths, a cold tub to get your blood circulation going, two calming saunas and a relaxation room where you can rest by the fireplace while listening to soothing music.

    Convenient and intimate
Krauma was very easy to find and paired beautifully with our jaunt to view Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Five pools, infrared room and steam room. Very clean and quite uncrowded early in the day. Shower and shampoo toiletries provided, plastic bag for wet suits. Can rent towel and bathrobe. Cafe on site, though we didn’t eat there. Lovely experience!

    Geothermal relaxation away from crowds
Geothermal baths, with red sauna, steam room and relaxing room. We spent over 2 hours and loved every part. Great service due to a delay there were no issues moving our reservation back. Very quiet would highly recommend. Hire bathrobes or bring your own. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hairdryer provided. Bring your own towel and flip flops. Order a drink and enjoy in bath with stunning views.

Krauma Geothermal Bath should not be missed when visiting this area of Iceland
Highly recommend! Lovely geothermal baths of varying temperatures plus a steam bath and sauna. Small, we were not there during peak season so it was not crowded. I don’t know how many visitors they allow per time slot but it was very nice to be there with only 10 or 12 others. Locker rooms were nice and well equipped with nice toiletries and hair dryers. We didn’t visit the restaurant so I cannot speak to the quality.

    Perfect for a January Evening.
We’ve been to many of the geothermal baths in Iceland, both “wild” and “fancy” and our visit to Krauma was just what we wanted on our winter trip. We began with a delicious dinner at the restaurant and finished the evening outside in the baths while the northern lights shone from above. I really like that it’s not a big facility and given our weeknight. Is it in January, we had each pool we went in to ourselves. It was awesome.Really glad we went.

Lovely stay for a few hours
Lovely stay for a few hours at the Krauma baths. We were there on a Friday in February and it was not crowded. The bathrooms/shower area were clean with hairdryers, shampoo, conditioner all provided. Towels and bathrobes are not free if you need them. Definitely bring sandals/flip flops as you need to walk from one pool to the next and also to the sauna/steam room. We thought the steam room was not steamy enough. Sauna was fine, could have been warmer, but it was good. The relaxation room was especially nice with the fireplace in the middle. You have to knock on the glass door by reception if you want drink service outside. Water is free and is sitting outside for you to take. Overall a nice place. And we had lunch there afterwards - all good! Especially great cappuccino.

Perfect way to relax and enjoy natural hot springs
My husband and I were traveling to a remote cabin and this hot spring was on the way. What a fantastic stop on our journey! The facility is peaceful, beautiful, clean and offered all the amenities you would need. There are different pools (all different temps), a cold plunge, a sauna, a steam room, and a relaxation room with a wood-burning stove. The changing rooms had free locking lockers, showers with soap, shampoo and conditioner, and hair dryers. Our experience was very relaxing, and I would highly recommend it! After our time in the hot springs, we also had lunch at the restaurant. Although a little on the pricey side, the food was delicious and high-quality.

Be sure to visit Krauma spa.
Another place which far exceeded expectations. Great staff and facility, and the hot pools made us pain free and relaxed. Clean showers, awesome restaurant and beautiful setting make this a must see for weary travelers to the western area of Iceland.

I visited this place in mid-June. For me, this is a hot spot, not a spa (the only element of the spa is the sauna and relaxation room with 6 deckchairs). The service was friendly and efficient. The biggest disadvantage was the water quality. There was a lot of dirt in the water that was present in all pools (photos). The pool has been reopened for about a month and this kind of water contamination should not take place. The price is definitely too high for the quality. I am not going to visit this place again and I would not recommend.

Dear GMK_Photography. Here is information about the water The water in Krauma‘s pools is a mix of cold water from the mountain Ok and hot water from the hot spring Deildartunguhver. The geothermal water is very rich in various minerals as well as algae. The main minerals are iron, aluminium, calcium, magnesium and sulfur, which are all very common in icelandic soil and are not harmful, although the water is not recommended for drinking, due to the aluminium. Best regards Jónas Friðrik

Unfortunately, I would give this spa a pass. There was a fmaily with 3 kids and the parents were let kids run around screaming and putting dirt in the pool. They were opening and closing steam room doors and pouring cold water in the hot pools. I approached management twice, they did speak to the family who could not understand this was a spa and certain etiquette rules should be followed. This is not a public pool

The family knew it was me that was asking for some changes so that we could also enjoy our night and when the family started screaming across the pool on front of their staff, the staff was at a loss on how to handle it.

I asked for a partial refund as the staff were unequiped on how to handle the situation and was told no. You have many places/choices on where to spend your money where staff ensure your spa is a relaxing event not a public pool

Visited Krauma from Husafell and had a lovely time. Clean, relaxing, friendly and not at all over crowded. The food we had for lunch in the restaurant (lamb) was the best we had in Iceland and in fact one of the best lamb dishes i have ever tasted!

The place is beautiful and have everything one might want (multiple hot pools, steam room, infrared sauna and very cozy relaxation room). They did offer a beverage upon arrival, but did not provide service (refills).

The restaurant had great food, but service was inconsistent (some people got bread, we did not) and slow (no refills, dessert offered)..

Gorgeous spa that is simple, has a nice choice of pots to relax in, a very comfortable to sit in infra red sauna and a quiet, relaxing room with a fire - nice touch!

It's all designed well to fit into the surrounding landscape.

We had lunch after the spa and the food was first class. My husband had the cod and I had the vegan meal of braised/slow cooked vegetables. The arrangement of the food on on the plates was stunning enough and then we tasted it - out of this world! The chef and his team know what they are doing. Very impressed!

We came here with our young children and felt incredibly awkward. These hot springs are very small and geared towards adults. We wish we had known ahead of time, but the establishment allows children of all ages in, so we were given a false impression.

We visited here in March 2023 and tried three of the hot pools. (We skipped the cold pool and the hottest one.) It made for a very enjoyable afternoon treat. Staff was friendly and helpful. There were lots of young selfie-takers romping about, which made for a more interactive atmosphere than many spas. Virtually everyone near us wanted to strike up a conversation.

The facility could use a few more amenities (no swimsuit dryer and only one WC in the ladies locker room, for instance), and there is no real view, but overall it was a good experience. We left very relaxed.

We also had dinner in the restaurant the night before. (It was the only place open anywhere near our hotel. Thank goodness it was there!) The food was pricey but very tasty and healthy.

My spouse and our child (10yo) visited Krauma directly after touring The Cave. We had visited the Blue Lagoon days before and the two are quite different experiences. While we enjoyed both, we found the small and quiet environment at Krauma much more relaxing than the Blue Lagoon.

We enjoyed testing out all the different pools and saunas. We all even dunked in the cold pool! There were a mix of couples of different ages and families. Very pleasant company. The staff were excellent at redirecting curious tourists from invading the space.

You can order drinks to enjoy at the spa and water is freely available. There is a restaurant on site, but we did not eat there. We enjoyed the hot dog stand down the hill instead.

The facilities are beautiful and Soley Organics products are provided in the showers. We loved the scent so much, we trekked out of our way to the Soley store in Grandi, Reykjavik to get our own! (Also available at the airport).

Facilities were clean and well equipped with amenities. Pools heated to differing temperatures were very enjoyable. Drinks served in pool area. Service was very accommodating - we accidentally booked a day after we planned to go, and the staff let us move our booking with no hassle. Great views- beautiful and delicious restaurant, overall an unforgettable experience!
