Lake Spenard is an amphibious plane center. All around the edge of the lake sea planes are tied to the shore. Every hour a sea plane is taking off our landing. Excursions can be booked. Off in the distance is Anchorage International Airport. How this...More

The lake is spectacular even if it happens to be a rainy day. We walked around the lakefront several times and then took a float plane to see the scenery from above.

Wonderful float plane base. Lots of activity. Very relaxing to watch the planes take off and land. What a hoot watching a pickup tow a float plane around like you would see being fine with a boat most other places.

Not a better place in the world to watch floatplanes at the worlds largest and busiest seaplane base! You can walk around the lake, it's a 4 mile walk.
