Catch it on your way out of Anchorage!

You probably don't need to stop and view it - just drive slow and you'll see it on 6th Ave as you leave the city... Or drive around the block and see it again.

This is a very nice wall mural on the side of the mall by JCPenney's. It's a nice picture to see but there's nothing else here. You will see it many times as you travel out of the downtown area.

I am a huge fan of Robert Wyland. I find his ability to draw compelling life on a such a large scale just incredible. The Whaling Wall is no different. It is difficult to appreciate in pictures because the sheer size is what is impressive.

Many murals on the sides of buildings, this being really big! Nice art and has been there for a while but still is impressive!

We were focusing on a place to park, located a parking lot a distance from where we really wanted to start our downtown walk. After paying we looked up and there they were: whales! A shocking and beautiful treat!

Driving thru the downtown area and you come across this beautiful and beautifully maintained art scape! It's definitely worth finding it, especially if you have young kids. They will be in awe of the big beautiful creatures! Stop by, spend a few minutes, you'll be glad you did

The pictures you see of it don't do it justice. You need to see this up close and personal. Brilliant work.

My wife and I were standing in the Performing Arts Center having a galss of wine during the intermission for Grease, We were looking out the window and studying the whaling wall painted by Wyland. It overlooks the Town Square and you see it very nicely from 6th Avenue or from the PAC. I remember when it was first painted... More

This is beautiful. Someone did a great job painting this. We got to see it when we were on the Trolley ride too.

It's off the beaten path a bit but it's being kept up and is still beautiful! Glad to find one that is still visible!
