The Depot has been well preserved since it was established. The staff take pride in explaining the history of this place. All the different train routes start or pass thru here. The aurora train from anchorage to fairbanks was a good trip and is recommended during winter. The staff on board are awesome.

We took the train from the Alaska Railroad Depot to Seward, AK. It was about 4 hours each way and was a pleasant trip. We recommend buying the deluxe tickets for twice the price of just a seat. It includes food and drinks and you are in a car that has a glass roof with an amazing view. We took... More

I was lucky to return to Anchorage before the gift shop closed for the season. I always enjoy picking up a new souvenir each trip, and this time is a Glow In The Dark t-shirt with a ARR engine on the front. When the train is at the depot, it is a bustling place, but if not trains are in,... More

Visiting Alaska for the 1st time, we ventured to the train depot to look around. While the interior of the building was very simple the gift shop employees were very engaging and shared much about the railroad and the surrounding areas. Wish we had more time to actually ride the train.

We stayed at the Arctic Fox B&B which was an easy walk to the train station. We arrived and followed the line to get processed for our Wilderness Expedition. Everything was clearly marked, the staff was friendly and efficient, and there was even a place to get coffee and do a little souvenir shopping. The trains came and went at... More

Taking the train to see Alaska is a great experience, for starters! The depot in Anchorage has their service down to a science. The staff is friendly and efficient in getting all of the luggage out of the train and into the hands of travelers quickly.

This attraction is located on the fringe of the city centre. This depot has historical significance and is one of the stops of the Trolley bus. From this depot, you can catch the train to various destinations in Alaska.

We rode the Gold Star (dome car) from Anchorage to Denali on an absolutely gorgeous, clear day. We became members of the 30% club (those who get to see Mt. Denali and its associated mountains in full, cloudless view). THIS, the rail car ride, proved to be a fantastic way to travel and see the mountain in all her glory!... More

We took the Alaska Gold Dome from Anchorage to Seward. The Alaska Railroad Depot was a great place to start our beautiful journey through Kenai National Park. Found the gift shop with great souvenirs... made in Alaska.

Great place to get an idea of the Alaska Railroad. Lots of historical photos as well as a small coffee shop and gift store. Well worth the visit.
