I have been to Alaska five times, and have walked on glaciers and cruised next to them. The Portage glacier Cruise is fun and very beautiful, but the glacier itself is not extremely large when compared to others. Portage Lake is very pretty and the...More

I took a 1 day tour down from Anchorage which included the cruise to Portage Glacier. A 1 hour, approx, guided tour which takes you across the lake, which has only existed in the last 100 years or so and was created by the glacier....More

We took the 10:30 am cruise on our first full day in Alaska (8/24/18)and enjoyed getting up close to the glacier. There weren't many people on the mv Ptarmigan that morning so we got to spend quite a lot of time chatting with the Captain...More

We went at 10:30 and it just stopped drizzling. This is a short cruise however we spent most of the time at the Portage Glacier which was absolutely awesome. Great narration and crew. This is a great trip.

I went on an overcast, rainy day & it was still worth the visit. The boat was specially made for the lake & is the only one allowed on it. It's a "no rocking" boat so I didn't feel the waves at all and would...More

This 1 hour boat tour was fun and informative. Our guide was a National Park Service Ranger who shared a lot of interesting facts about glaciers. She was very entertaining.

Went to take the one-hour portage glacier cruise today. It was sunny and the glacier was stunning! The boat stopped for long enough for everyone to take tons of phones, and you do get really really really close to the glacier! There’s also a few...More
