Walking along Ship Creek watching the salmon fight their way up the river is a sight I will never forget. The path is easy to walk and well maintained. Watching the fisherman catching salmon was wonderful fun.

Walked along a short boardwalk to take a look at the creek. It was fun (for a few minutes) to watch the fishermen in their waders. After that there wasn't that much to see.

It was neat seeing all the people fishing in the creek so close to downtown, but it wasn't really that scenic. Maybe it was just the weather, but it looked a little dreary.

We went to the Ship Creek Overlook (near 2nd Avenue and E Street) to end a self-guided walking tour of Anchorage and I have to say it just wasn't really worth it. From the overlook you're staring at railroad yards and can see part of...More

This is a great place to walk along the stream and see fish in the creek. It is in downtown anchorage but you wouldn't know it when you are there. Great place for families to go on walks. It is very peaceful.

We were there the 2nd week of June and there was a fishing derby going on. The banks were lined with anglers. It was very interesting and we enjoyed talking to those who had caught some large salmon. We were there during high tide and...More

Banks are lined with fisherman - word is that 4-5 have been caught - today is 5/20 - be sure to check the tide table as high tide is the best viewing - there is a place you can rent gear as well to fish...More

Impromptu visit but worth the stop. There was still ice/snow on the creek but slowly melting. Great photo opportunity.

Great plaza near the Bridge Restaurant and Alaska Geographic. Its a cool place to hang out and watch the urban fishery where (when in season) giant king salmon are caught. The Ship Creek Trail also connects to Mountain View to the east. Lots of fun...More
