This mall USED to be great
Jan. 2020 • Family
I remember going to this sparkling new, bright, mall in 1988 with a big Disney Store, great food court and tons of fun shopping. Over the years, I'd return to the mall to eat and shop, when I worked Downtown. It was still pretty great. I loved taking the Monorail from Westlake out to Seattle Center. Then, in the 2010's, the mall started to change. The open-air feeling started disappearing. Shops started closing. The food court was gone. The whole mall started feeling claustrophobic with dark, uninteresting, store entrances only around the escalator. A handful of places to eat. Just meh. No longer the fun destination it used to be. (Not to mention the amount of drug deals, homelessness and crime happening outside the mall). Now Westlake Mall is nearly the entrance to the Monorail, for me.

Plenty of things are open.

There’s a lot less going on because of the pandemic, but there’s still a spot worth visiting in Seattle. There’s good shopping, and definitely good places to eat. There are enough things still open, and because there are less people, it can be quite nice to walk around the area. Nordstrom in open, and they have free masks and strong sanitizer when you walk in. Don’t let a little pandemic keep you from visiting Seattle.

Trapped
Dec. 2019
Got trapped upstairs because the escalators were out of order and there was only one elevator with a huge line. Security would not let anyone use the escalator like a staircase and stopped people that were simply trying to walk downstairs. Pretty creepy not being able to get out. We finally managed to get the elevator after about an 45 minutes.

Central for shopping and transportation
Dec. 2019 • Family
Almost every day we came by or stopped inside the Westlake Center mall. Besides the many stores (outlet and regular) and restaurants, the the Christmas decorations and Heart of Holidays outdoor activities still were attracting a lot of visitors.

This was also a great central transportation hub for downtown Seattle with monorail, Link light rail and streetcars options to get around.

Nice clean mall, not a huge choice of shops. but it is the terminus for the monorail which is very convenient.

Great shopping

We enjoyed the shops in the Westlake Center. Right in the heart of downtown Seattle so you can't miss it.

medium sized mall
Aug. 2019
A main reason for entering the mall is access the monorail service, otherwise, it's fairly average mall with a food court, but also a Japanese Daiso store (100 yen store in Japan, a touch more costly here.

Very disappointed with the area when we visited in August 2019. This was my 3rd visit to Seattle. Such a beautiful City ruined by garbage, waste, and (homeless) people accosting visitors coming to Seattle.
Sadly this is another West Coast City that is truly dying. It can only be saved by the leaders of the City changing their attitudes towards this increasing problem. I would be shocked to see anything change until the residents stand up, and say ENOUGH.
Unfortunately I would not recommend spending any time downtown, unless you are willing to take a chance with your health and safety!

Average mall - some good stores
Sep. 2019 • Solo
Some good stores (Zara, Nordstrom rack) but overall, it is just another mall. Saks 5th Avenue is a small store not equivalent to the Saks stores I am familiar with.
