Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Neither the lighthouse nor its grounds are assessable by the public except for a few hours on Sunday. It’s not a tourist destination. Take a walk on the nearby Alki beach trail instead.

Beautiful spot to park and walk to in order to see a beautiful view. Great place to take pictures or have a picnic at. Was not crowded when we were there.

I wasn't in town on a Sunday so I knew that I wouldn't be able to get a tour, but I did want to see it. So I drove to the lighthouse and easily found a parking spot on the street. I walked to the beach to the left of the lighthouse and then walked on the beach back to the lighthouse. I was able to clearly see the lighthouse from outside the fence and was also able to get a clear picture.

A. very small lighthouse, compared to many others; however, it is easily accessed, takes a short time to go thru and, still a very important & operating navigational aid to maritime traffic in the Puget Sound. Tours are available during the summertime. The Puget Sound views are great! Alki Point has a very nice, pebble beach.

This is a nice little lighthouse and you will enjoy your visit if you plan accordingly. The lighthouse is only open for tours on Sunday afternoons until 3:45 from Memorial Day through Labor Day mainly because the Admiral lives in the lighthouse keepers house and he doesn’t like tourists running through his yard. There is a small parking lot but it will probably be filled and parking is a challenge in Alki in general. It certainly was on Memorial Day weekend when the weather is nice. The Coast Guard Auxiliary conducts the tours and you may have to wait a short time at the gate for the next tour. The tower is open and only a few can go up at a time. Meanwhile a docent tells you a little of the history and shows off the displays on the main floor. It’s a nice place to go and take the kids.

We knew the light house would be closed for tours however, we thought we would get some good outside shots and views back to Downtown Seattle. Unfortunately it was not easy to locate and most access points were private property. Would try again in summer months when tours run.

We drove to Alki Point and located the lighthouse. It was fenced in and on private property so we could not get a great picture. We saw it the next day from the Ferry to Bainbridge Island and got better pictures that way. The views of the Seattle skyline and the Olympic Mountains on the drive to and from the lighthouse were pretty spectacular.

The Alki Point Lighthouse in West Seattle is fascinating little spot full of local history. A perfect place to swing by while checking out the West Seattle Farmers Market.

Lots of interesting artifacts and friendly US Coast Guard Auxiliary tour guides are on hand during the summer weekends to show you about and answer your questions.

At minimum it's worth the trip just for the great photo ops of the Puget Sound.

It looks like a very beautiful and well kept lighthouse. It closed at 3:30 for tours according to the sign, so we couldn't go into the fenced area. The lighthouse is surrounged by private homes so you have to know it is there to find it. Not a lot of parking available. If you love lighthouses it is worth finding it.

Alki Beach and surrounding area is most definitely worth a visit. But don't make a special trip just to see the lighthouse. Go for the views of the water and the mountains.
