If you visit Seattle in the summer, this might be a good spot to spread a beach blanket and sit on the shore of Puget Sound. There is plenty of free parking, restrooms, and places to eat nearby. A bicycle trail connects it to the Ballard Locks, not far away. It provides a view of ships in the Sound and... More

Was here for a session at the bathhouse - what a great pace on the water. Spectacular views, when clouds and rain allow, lots of people in the sand, playing volley ball, walking, kids on the playground equipment and lots os people on bikes. Pleasant and peaceful.

This is a very nice park on the Sound with lots to do like picnicking, walking/jogging. kite flying, volleyball, barbecuing, relaxing on a bench, photography, playing on the beach etc. You can see ships and boats go by or just play on the beach and maybe just tan. There are barbecue pits and a volleyball court, there are covered picnic... More

Golden Gardens is at its best on a summer evening. Tons of people come down, picnic, play, have bonfires. A bit of a party scene, admittedly, and not for those looking for quiet and serene... Unless you wander up toward the north end of the park, where you will find a pond that has an active family of beaver. What... More

You have to go all the way up to Ballard for this one, so for tourists that probably means wanting a car to get there. But if you can go-- go. It is a beautiful place to visit. We went in February and had a picnic because it was sunny and in the 50s. There was only a few other... More

I live in Seattle and visit Golden Gardens Park and Beach several times a month, to take our dog to the GG Dog Park and visit the beach. The beach is an outstanding and romantic spot to watch the sun set over the Sound and Olympic Mountains across the sound. There are two excellent Cuban and two highly rated seafood... More

Stopped here for lunch (Un Bien) and a walk along the beach. This was on a Friday afternoon and the parking was easy and the crowds were small. As it was a bit cloudy (it's Seattle) we didn't swim. The picnic area was relatively clean and accessible. The beach was close to walk. It's the typical gray sandy beach with... More

Seattle has one of the easiest and interesting with the Gilman-Burke trail. Check out the city parks and neighborhoods starting at U of Washington with this 14 mile ride.

We attended a wedding in the pavillion at Golden Gardens Park. What a beautiful place to spend the day. There are bathroom facilities, a wide beach, a children's area for the kiddies to play, places to put up a tent and you can even have a bonfire on the beach. This is a very popular beach but we had trouble... More

Golden Gardens is a large park on Shilsole Bay in Seattle. It is easily accessible by car or public transit. By car follow Market Street as far as you can. The 45 bus has a stop right across the street from the trail and staircase that leads down to the beach. The stairs can be treacherous but funding is in... More
