About
Get a postcard view of downtown Seattle and Elliott Bay against the backdrop of snow-capped Mount Rainier from this beautiful terraced park. You'll also get spectacular views of the Space Needle, a 605-foot-tall observation tower. Take pictures and lounge or have a picnic on the lawn. The best time to visit is during sunrise, or at night to admire the buildings and ferries at the bay glow with lights. Though located in the quiet Queen Anne neighborhood, Kerry Park is less than a mile away from Seattle Center, where you can visit other landmarks like the Museum of Pop Culture. – Tripadvisor

- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia20,004 contributionsThe best Seattle view and for freeThere are several Seattle panorama viewing spots all around the city: from the Space Needle, from Bainbridge ferry, tallest Columbia Center,...and this one. And, this one at Kerry park is the only free one. Moreover, parking around is also free so do come and enjoy.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 May 2024
- HeatherLas Vegas, Nevada1,464 contributionsGreat views!Small park with on-street parking. I went on a Monday at 4:30pm in June and the sun was far enough west that it allowed for great afternoon pictures. There was also available parking then as well.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 11 June 2024
- TennisStar602New Jersey712 contributionsIf a person wants to find the best views of Seattle, this place is probably the perfect location. This park was smaller and a person could descend some stairs into a neighborhood where there was a playground. I parked for free on the nearby streets, and this park was free. I got great views of Seattle‘s Downtown skyscrapers and of the nearby waterways. Mount Rainier was even cooperative enough to be within my photograph (it was not a cloud). I spent about five (5) minutes here, and it was crowded.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 30 June 2024
- Derek VoyageSeattle, Washington4 contributionsBest place in Seattle skylineTotally free to visit this park. This place is amazing to see the Seattle skyline, at night, it was even more beautiful when the city lit up. The Mount Rainier was unfortunately veiled by heavy clouds. Very easy to drive there, free to park along road. There is also a playground underneath, so it's perfect for family as wellVisited July 2023Travelled soloWritten 30 June 2024
- WismickchickKenosha, Wisconsin157 contributionsGorgeous view!We decided to walk from the Space Needle to Kerry Park because we heard that the views there were amazing. First off, the walk is NOT easy! It is uphill most of the way and it took us about 25 minutes to walk there. However, the views were SO worth it! Such a beautiful view and we were lucky enough to have a clear day and we were able to see Mt. Ranier in the distance. Although it was tough to get there, we would recommend this view for anyone visiting Seattle!Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 August 2024
- WillieMacfanHealdsburg, California929 contributionsBest View in SeattleKerry Park is located in a neighborhood of beautiful homes so be sure to take your time getting to Kerry Park. Parking can be an issue and be nice to the neighbors who put up with a lot of extra traffic and stay out of their driveways. The park itself is not large but the views are endless. You look out at downtown Seattle and the Seattle Center. Looking more west is Puget Sound and some of the western islands. Be friendly and offer to take a picture of the couple next to you so that they get at least one nice picture of them together in Seattle.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 August 2024

It’s about a 30 minute walk from the Space Needle to Kerry Park. The park is up a steep hill in the Queen Anne neighborhood, but it is well worth it. It is not much of a park - just a small urban park. People come here because it is a great viewpoint. You can see the the Seattle skyline, with the Space Needle in the center. You can see the Puget Sound, with the ferries coming and going and you can see the working port and over to West Seattle. On a clear day the view is even better because you can see Mount Rainier but usually Seattle will have clouds that obscure Mount Rainier in the distance. The sun sets to the right of this view and if you are lucky you can catch a spectacular sunset. I got there around one hour before sunset and this was also great for photos because the light is soft. The viewpoint is popular with selfie takers and Instagrammers because you can get a good picture of yourself with the city behind. There are not a lot of amenities like food around. Walk back down the hill for amenities.

I admit I take Kerry Park for granted because I live close to the park. I drive by the park almost everyday. There are always people at the park no matter what time of the day you drive by the park. The park is a popular place for marriage proposals and wedding party pictures. Without question, Kerry Park offers the best views of Seattle in the entire city. Thus, whether it is your first date or your 75th wedding anniversary, Kerry Park is a must visit.

My sister Cathy and I were out in Washington State visiting some family members in September and we decided to visit Kerry Park because it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. The view from this spot in Queen Anne Hill was spectacular. We could see the city of Seattle including the iconic Space Needle. Elliot Bay was visible with a few sailboats on the water. Mt. Rainier was in full view and was so majestic. Surprisingly for Tuesday afternoon, September 29 when we visited, it was not crowded at all and parking was easy to find thankfully.

This was the smallest park I had ever seen, but I doubt there are better views than from this location. If you go early morning, you have the place all to yourself except for a few neighbors walking their dogs. Go at sunset and you’ll be jockeying for position with everyone else who also thought it would be a good idea to visit at that time. Kerry Park is a must for first-time visitors!

This park - set in the Queen Anne- Neighborhood - is a great spot for views of the Seattle skyline. Walk around the neighborhood and head over to the park before sunset. You won’t be alone but if you get there early enough you can get a seat on the ledge and watch the sunset.

This overlook is in a gorgeous neighborhood of older homes. We went on a lovely night, and there were a couple hundred people there, many with "serious" cameras. Watching the sunset reflected on the buildings of downtown Seattle is amazing.

Coming from a couple who have some great Parks and outdoor attraction on our doorstep, we wouldn't really call Kerry Park the greatest of 'parks'. It is, however, a fantastic viewpoint for the Seattle skyline and is always filled with friendly folk. There is a small playpark, trail and grass area however its on a steep hill so we would recommend driving to the top for the viewpoint.

Our city bus tour stopped here for about 15 minutes to take in the view and allow us to take photos. This is the postcard perfect city skyline spot.
While other people were also taking their selfies we were able to quickly get a prime spot without any randoms in the background.
The area was overall clean and well maintained.

It was cloudy when we went up the Space Needle, so we stopped at Kerry Park hoping for a better view since the sky had cleared. It was perfect. Rainier floated there like a Bob Ross painting with the city below, the water to the right and the Space Needle to the left. There is not much else to the park besides the view, and parking is at a premium, especially if a tour bus takes up a lot of spaces.

As advertised, Kerry Park was a super spot for a photo of the skyline. It's worth the trip and it's in a really cool neighborhood Queen Anne. It's the kind of thing, though, that you go, take a few pictures, and leave after five minutes. I will say, after I did it, I felt like I did Seattle.

Hello, what other photographs did you get of the city?
Written 30 January 2019
You should look to get images of the sign above the market. At the corner of Pine and 1st street, you can see the sign, "Public Market." Very iconic image of the city.
Written 30 January 2019
I'm flying there again in a few weeks. But other than photos of the skyline from the water on a ferry, I could not find any good angles.
Where should I be in the city to get good shots of the downtown seattle skyline. Also if you were there for a sunset, where should I be to get the right angle?
Written 29 January 2019
Hi, We drove up to Kerry Park for the iconic view which should not disappoint (depending on the weather you might also get to see Mount Rainier in the background!) A telephoto lens or zoom on your phone would also give you a great view from there. Otherwise hop on a ferry to get a view from the water back to the city.

Better places for the 'best view'? Thanks!

A nice little quiet spot with a great view.

I'm reading different opinions re how good the view is. I'm interested in getting the iconic photo with space needle and Mt Rainier. Is this possible or do trees, etc obstruct?
Written 1 June 2017
Worth it. Favor the right side of the park and arrive at dusk when the city lights turn on. At night you lose Rainier. During the day, the cranes will distract from your image.

With no car is there public transportation that goes close to here? We plan to mostly be by Space Needle and Pike Place Market so not sure from that area the best way without a car to get here. Thanks for your help!
Written 3 January 2017
I think there's a bus stop nearby. I recommend using Google Maps. There's always Uber. I would NOT recommend walking from Lower Queen Anne, because the hill is VERY steep. It's a very small park with some play equipment. The view of the city from Kerry Park and upscale homes are the big draw.
Written 3 January 2017
On a weekday what time would you recommend arriving to get a parking place at Kerry Park? We have a dually truck with wide hips on the back, and we're worried about parking. I'm an avid photographer, and I'll be schlepping a lot of my photography equipment. Is it a long walk from the parking area to the viewpoint over the city? Thanks for your help!
Written 15 July 2016
Your best bet is to go north or south on Queen Anne Avenue North and turn west on Highland. Parking is hit-or-miss, but people do not tend to stay long at the park.

Does anyone know if you can married in the park?!? If so, what's the best time of year for an outdoor wedding in Seattle?!?
Although, asking about the weather, we came to Seattle in February this year and the weather was cold, but clear blue skies and Hardly any rain. Made the trip even more amazing!!
Many thanks in advance :o)

This would be a great place for a small wedding if the parks department will issue permission. In Seattle, count on good weather from mid-July to August 15.

Are there washrooms and benches at Kerry Park and is the parking hard if you drive? We have a big F-150 and are finding the roads so narrow here.
Written 2 August 2015
Kerry Park is not a park in the usual/normal sense. It is only an overlook/view located on Queen Anne Hill where you take photos of the Space Needle, the downtown area, and Mt. Rainier. There are no public washrooms, however there are benches to sit on and take in the expansive view. The street is a typical Seattle street, narrow. Yes, you can drive your F-150 and park on the street. Depending on the day of the week, the time of day etc, you decide to enjoy Kerry Park will determine how many parking spaces are available. At best, you will spend 30 minutes here. Hope this helps.
