This was our second visit to Provins and to the Aigles des Remparts display. In 2008, there had been rather more narrative in French about the origins of falconry and some twee sub-Disney 'legends'. The 2011 presentation is more visual and more strongly focussed on flying the various species of birds of prey and contrasting their differing styles of hunting.

Non-French speakers will be able to enjoy the performance of the birds, the proximity of many of the less intimidating ones and the spectacular flight of both the eagles and vultures. The falconers readily walk amongst the audience, often standing just behind you so the birds swoop within a hair's breadth. Later, the Caracaras are encouraged to sit on your arm; a great photo opportunity! On our previous visit one of the vultures flew off for 20 minutes or more, so there's scope for some unexpected drama.

There's a small zoo and aviary to see the birds and animals in the show after the performance. This display would appeal to all ages. Check out You Tube and the Aigles des Remparts website. Show times are displayed in the Tourist Centre at the entry to the walled town. Allow ten minutes to walk out to the Theatre des Remparts just beside the Porte de Jouy. We paid 11 euros per adult, children are discounted but not seniors. Definitely worth a visit BUT be aware that times often seem to overlap with the jousting and medieval warfare shows elsewhere in Provins.

One of the best eagle shows ive seen. Very well trained without being too bossy or controlling. Provides perfect entertainment for the medieval city.

Definitely one of the Highlights of our Trip. The Bird show was definitely the best I have ever encountered. (Falcons, Eagles, Vultures and Owls). We did not understand anything as it was done in French, but we were still astounded.
The show was extremely well presented by the Handlers dressed in Costumes from Medieval Times. I personally was very taken with the Vultures and took an lot of photo's

This was surprisingly good, just loved it, even more than Carcassonne , some might be surprised at someone saying that, but even if its a bit touristy i felt more of a historical connection with it, Carcassone has a fudge or pizza shop round every corner.

Take the time to go here, really is worth it, so much history, lovely town, nice village square for lunch etc

Walked from Provins train station via the stunningly beautiful Provins town. Went to this wonderful performance of eagles and horses managed by a group of young enthusiatic people. Beautiful costumes changes and great care of the eagles. Show all in French. Great when eagles fly over your head. Perfect setting in the ruins of the wall to hold the show. Highly recommended especially with kids.

Get there a bit early so you can secure a seat at the front. You can see the show from anywhere you sit, but the birds land on the wood rail just a couple feet in front of you if you sit there. Breathtaking. I had a cute little barn owl sitting right in front of my face. One of the actors put a carracarra (sp?) on my arm and everyone else's in my row. The birds indeed swoop very close to your heard and I actually yelled and ducked when one seemed to fly right into my face.

I speak very little English so could not understand what the actors were saying, but no matter as it's really all about the birds who are constantly flying inches overhead.

Moments of the show are breathtaking. You are in proximity to the birds in an amazing way. They are well-trained. Lots of commentary all in French. Parts seemed a bit hokey and over-rehearsed. Would be better with kids. Just fyi, no shade on a hot day.

this was a lovely way to end a day of sightseeing in the town of Provins. both adults and kids in our travel group enjoyed it. print to the show we went to the area where the birds were kept to have a look at the eagles, owls and other birds. the show was fun even though we did not understand French. It was fun to have the handlers get the eagles to fly over the spectators heads during the show! the only downside was the toilet which indeed is a bit medieval! Modernise the toilets people!!! that bit was not pleasant - at all! also the tourist shop could have had a bit more to buy. was a bit sparse

We volunteer at a Raptor Center in California, so we were thrilled to discover Les Aigles Des Remparts in advance of our vacation to France this summer. We made reservations for the presentation well in advance of our trip, and took an un-hurried day-trip train ride from Paris to Provin to attend. The show, performed in the timeless French language, is unforgettable! The raptors are trained to interact with the crowd in various ways during the show, demonstrating the birds' capabilities, the professionalism of the Handler/Actors and their obvious care for the birds. After the show, we enjoyed a walk through the very well-kept facility, viewing the birds in their respective living spaces. The cleanliness and attention to raptor-specific detail clearly shows respect for these magnificent creatures. Consider taking a fast-action camera if you enjoy post-visit images of the action, and consider sitting in front if you have children who would enjoy seeing the birds up close and personal.
