This small museum located not far away from Tallinn, you can take minibus #260 for city center and be in museun in 20 min. Note that this bus do no accept Tallinn, thus you need to pay 2 euro.
Museum ticket is 3,5 euro for adult, but youbwill be proposed to take one more ticket for another museum located nearby and pay 5 euro for two museums.
Museum territory is small, abou 7-8 buildings, but povide you basic information about fishermen life in this area and beautiful view on Tallinn harbor. You can try to make knots and swing on a swing. There are also couple of sheeps, ships and boats.
On Saturday they say they have a market there.
I would recommend to combine visit of this museum with Pirita beach and/or TV tower - all of these attractions located not far away.
This museum is good addition to visit of Eesti Vabaohumuuseum as expositions of these two open museums are different and complement each other

During a tour of Tallinn we stopped off here, but unfortunately it was getting late and we didn't have enough time to have good look around, plus it came into rain. The grounds are not huge, but it took a little time walking from one building to another. Lots of miniature lighthouses made of wood. You could see how people lived years ago and the smuggling that went on. Plenty to read about at each exhibit. A little shop and a nice lady who answered our questions. Would have liked to have spent longer here. Worth a visit. It was lovely walking on grass and not cobbles.

It's not a big but great activity on a nice day - fantastic sea view, nice old houses - you'll see the Estonian 18th century farm and fisherman's cottages.

We were lucky enough to enjoy several interesting activities: the making of butter in old fashion way (and eating it), travelling in an old Soviet bus to the seaside farm and the visit of the farm. Also, the first part of the museum is quite interesting, offering a glimpse of the life and history of the Estonians.

We visited the Viimsi Open Air Museum during a one day visit to Tallinn. We had taken an organised coach trip and this was to be the last stop trip of the day,
The museum seemed to be quite a distance from Tallinn and is situated on the coast. It is basically a site where historic buildings are reconstructed and are open for visitors to explore. In truth, the site is not a large one’ but nevertheless contains some interesting buildings and these are furnished and equipped as if they were still inhabited. Many of the houses are equipped with boats suggesting that the local economy would be reliant on the sea.
Inside the interiors of the houses seem very ‘Spartan’ to modern eyes with only possessions that would be used on a daily basis and furnished predominantly with tables’ chairs and beds. One house has a large weaving loom and there is a semi buried stone built store with a brief history of smuggling.
Outside there are examples of boat building with what looks like a steam chest (to bend planks). A large working swing capable of accommodating a number of adults will entertain older children (or young adults). The site is edged by a small shingle beach from where the visitor can see the city of Tallinn in the distance, and to be honest it was quite pleasant to walk here.
The entrance to the site is a small building selling souvenirs of your visit here.
On the day of our visit there was a small farmers market in the filed next door though we did not visit this.

to see historic homes of yester year and learn about Estonian customs and history. On our arrival on a Sunday, colorfully clad dancers were performing traditional dances accompanied by musicians. The long barn houses were fascinating as were the amazing numbers of wooden containers and aids to daily life. It was fun to see chickens picking around the gardens for food. The fishermen's cottages on the shore and nearby windmills were also of great interest and the coastal scenery was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, including the traditional meals we had too. Great value, great exercise, loads to see and do. Many excellent descriptive panels in English describing what you are seeing too.

Worthwhile stop for people that are in the area. The location (on the coast) is stunning. The houses and equipment are great to see and experience and to walk in (watch your head!). Also nice is how everything has a personal touch - mentioning the families and family history of the different places. When we visited, we were almost alone, which makes it peaceful and quiet. This museum has a twin museum in the old school of the village. They offer a combined ticket to allow visiting both. The exposition in the school shows pictures and a feel of how this region, country and its people survived throughout tough times. The people in the museum were very helpful in explaining how to best visit. It is a bit a static exhibition still.

The viisi open air museum is a small but worthwhile place to go. In the area you can visit the Estonian 18th century farm and fisherman's cottage. We found a few farm animals, a couple of sheep and rabbits.
There is also a small bar where you can eat and drink. Next to the museum, there is a country market every Saturday.
