Be aware, the sand is completely gone right now at Kua Bay (Mile 88 beach). So sad! The sand will come back but it will take several months.

There's a small bookstore gift shop in keauhou in the shopping center that houses Sam Choi restaurant and the kTA grocery. They carry a laminated beach map of the island for $4.98. Fun to try and see all of the beaches.

This is one of our favorite beaches in the state. The waves can get big - we just catch the wave after it's crested when it's rough out. Beautiful sand & turquoise water.

Favorite of locals for good boogie boarding and surfing, as well as just playing in the surf. Small beach, but nice white sands, with good places in the surrounding rockery to set up chairs, umbrellas, etc... to spend a few hours. Also a good beach...More

We loved this beach! Beautiful white sand, turquoise waters, and black lava rocks. The waves were huge the day we were there and it made it so much fun to play in the water. It was a fairly busy beach but you could still find...More

We were looking for a white sandy beach to lay out and watch the waves. We were treated to dolphins playing out in the distance!

We loved this beach. It's probably the only one I might consider white sand. We were able to swim in the water and it was crystal clear. It was pretty popular when we were there, but we found a spot no problem. There is a...More

This is a great beach has an amazing beach. Not too many rocks and good for surfing, body boarding and snorkeling. The waves are epic in big swell days and on "normal" days it's near perfect. The fish are in the rocky area to the...More

We have been here twice now and just love it. The boogie boarding and swimming are excellent. We couldn't snorkel the day we went because the surf was too high, however, it is a very nice destination. Get there early for parking. We arrived at...More

There are no shops at the beach. There is toilets and showers but that is it. Not many beaches in Kona have vendors.

It's only about 13 miles north of the cruise port but the traffic is usually heavy - especially going back south towards the ships. Seems like there is always construction. Depending on the time of day I'd allow 25 minutes... More
