    Don't Miss Kona Brewery Tour!
Best money one can spend for this tour! Hank our tour guide was the BEST! The brewery is amazing and the sustainability they have included is outstanding. Tours size is kept to a minimum and the beer samples are outstanding, even for someone like me who is not a big drinker. This tour was one of the best things we did while on our cruise to Hawaii. Easy Uber access to and from the port to the brewery. A definite MUST do for beer lovers for sure.

Great fun with a lot of Information
The tour of the brewery took a little more than an hour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the operation, the beers and the history of the company. Hank (the guide) was so personable and extremely witty as well. I honestly. Can't remember a tour I took where I enjoyed myself as much as this tour and that is really a credit to Hank. We got to sample 6 beers and after the tour we went into the brewery pub and had another beer and a pizza. If you come to Kona, this is a can't miss

    Fun brewery tour in Kona
Our tour guide Dorin was full of energy and really made the tour. We enjoyed the tour a lot, especially tasting the different types of beer the Kona Brewing Company makes. We came back two days later to check out the restaurant.

Excellent Kona Brewery tour with Hank!
We had a wonderful experience with the Kona Brewery tour. Hank is AMAZING! he is extremely knowledgable with the company and brewing process, has a great dry sense of humor, made the tour extremely interesting and informative. I love the brightness and simplicity of the decor and historical information that has been displayed on the walls of the new manufacturing plant in Kona. Lots of good information and great beer to sample!!

    Liquid Aloha, Sunshine and Ohana
My husband and I loved the Kona Brewery Tour! We got to tour with Mar and she was great. We started out on the brewery’s bus starting at the original brewery right to the left of the growler and now pub we all know and love. She explained the process of their expansion that is to continue into 2025 with plans in place of some new turf space and bar for more liquid aloha! We then went to their new brewery space and got to see the inner works of Kona Brewing. We also got to see their process of sustainability that supplies Kona’s little farms and gives us great beer! We got to try a flight of 5 of their most popular brews which were all ono (delicious!) Hubby and I definitely recommend checking Kona Brewing Co. if you’re in the mood for a fun hour! We did end up going to the pub and getting some pizza and wing and of course more brews! All very yummy!

    A Great Experience!
We had such an amazing time taking a tour of Kona Brewing Company on our honeymoon! My husband loves Kona Big Wave, so we knew this was a must-do. We took a little shuttle ride to get to the brewing building with the other people on our tour (maybe about 8 people total). Inside, we watched a video of how the business got started while having a small drink, before seeing all the machines. Afterwards, we had our tasting and the opportunity to buy some merch, which of course we did. We finished with some drinks and food right there at Kona Brewing Company. It was a great experience!

    Great experience for beer lovers
Great brewery tour, good group size with friendly banter. We’re from the UK so had only ever tasted LongBoard and Big Wave, the guided tasting at the end introduced me to new tasty beers that I’ll have to fly half way round the world to try again! In fact we walked back the following day just to drink more Lemongrass Luau, Hanalei and Wailua Wheat. Great trip, would recommend. Loved the free keychain too, great memories.

    A Taste of the Islands
My family visited the Kona Brewing Company and did a brewery tour hosted by Mars in late November 2024. We met at the growler shack and then took a quick drive over to the actual brewery. Even though there was no active work going on while we visited, Mars was a fantastic guide, giving us the history of the brewery, how it got started, how it continues to sustain, and the important work being done today to keep alive breweries in Maui impacted by the wildfires from a few years back. Mars was knowledgeable and friendly and we really enjoyed her as a guide. Of course, the tour starts with, and this is capped off by the true star of the show, the Kona beer! We had several LARGE samples and really got a great taste of what Kona Brewing has to offer. I'd highly recommend this tour, not only for beer lovers, but for anyone interested in a wonderful success story told my passionate guides.

    Informative and fun!
Hubby is a home brewer, and I'm his assistant. We loved taking this tour. Our guide was a home brewer also, and the discussions were great. Learning about the father son team and where they have taken their dream was very heartwarming. Of course, seeing all those shinny boilers and hearing about the hopping, fermentation, and extracts was icing on the cake. I won't give away the entire tour secrets because you really need to take this tour. Informative and fun. Save the souvenir shopping for the end of the tour. You will be glad you did!

This is a review of the tour, left a separate review for the restaurant.... you stop at the growler shack to check in. When it's your tour time, a shuttle bus takes you a block away to the brewery. They chat while on the tour bus about some of the equipment you see coming in, you enter the brewery and are greeted with a sample, you watch a video, head upstairs, walk into the factory (much smaller than I thought it would be) and then you do a tasting. There is not a lot to the tour- maybe 15 minutes between the tour/video/shuttle ride over. We thought it was 4 tastings, but it ended up being 6 (plus the one at the beginning), which is a decent amount of beer in a short time. I am not a beer person but did take a sip on each one and pass them to my husband and when our tour guide noticed this, he offered me a glass of wine, which I thought was very kind since it was a beer tour at a brewery. The sunset tour at 6PM goes a little longer for an hour, more like 90 minutes, so plan accordingly for dinner plans. Tour guide was great !

I always stop at Kona Brewing Company when visiting Hawaii. I really like their beer and this time tried the Lemongrass luau. It was very good.
A few things have changed since my last visit. The menu is greatly reduced. It seems like the fare centers on pizza with a few options for non pizza eaters. The pizza is still to die for but we missed the volcano lava cake. Also, the first time we went they were not open due to sraff shortages--a condition we found at a couple of places.
The beer is fabulous as ever. We even had a chance to meet the resident mongoose.
Our wait person exuded "aloha". I know this may sound like a cliche to some, but she was really friendly, checking to make sure we were ok, filling our water glasses so we can stay hydrated, etc all why being very low key.

A fun and interesting tour at the local Kona Brewery. After a short tour you can try some of the products along with lots of information about every beer. Cost 15$/PP (for the whole tour) they also have a pub and a restaurant in the building. Recommended.

Very busy on a Tuesday night. We happily accepted seats inside as the outside seating was an hour wait. Our server was nice and did her best, but I think she was a little overwhelmed. We had the nachos with Portuguese sausage, and an order of wings. The nachos were burned and had no real flavor accept the sour cream and pico de gallo. The sausage was so minimal it wasn’t really notable in appearance or taste. The 7 wings seemed like they were right out of a box of frozen Tyson wings, freezer burn and all. They were tiny, tainted and somewhat tasteless.

The beer was ok, but as breweries go, there wasn’t anything notable about the vanilla stout or the pipeline porter. I lean towards dark beers, so I can’t comment on anything else. We really enjoyed the beers at Big Island Brewhouse and I would much sooner take the drive there than visit Kona brewing again.

It was not a good experience and I’m left wondering how this is such a busy hot spot.

This restaurant is one of our favourite places to go when we visit Big Island. They have great selections of beer and great food. We always had a great service but not this time. We were seated at Charmain C’s Table and we’ve never had such a terrible service from her. We simply asked her how big a Kale salad was since we wanted to share with a pizza. Charmain’s answer was “she is just a waitress” and she doesn’t know. We ordered a Buffalo chicken wings for appetizer and ordered a large pizza and wanted to have some salad with our meal. We immediately felt we were NOT welcome at this restaurant. Wouldn’t it be her job to recommend us if that was enough food or not????!!!! Charmain never once asked us how our foods were which is very unusual for a waitress. Or asked us if we want more drinks. What a shame!!!!! A gentle who brought our foods were so pleasant with a smile and friendly. We felt sorry for him for not getting a well deserved tip since Charmain was so rude and uncaring for her guests. There are enough restaurants to go in Kona and we would never go back again!!!

We spend 2 weeks a year in Kona and for the years they gave tours, we always went.

So this was our first tour of their new brewery.

The tour guide was Hank and he really knows how to give a tour. It was absolutely the best Kona Brewing tour we have ever been on.

The new brewery is fabulous and it’s amazing to see how it’s done.

My wife is handicapped and uses a walker and both the tour bus and the facility itself are set up to accommodate handicapped people even if they are in a wheelchair.

5 Thumbs up

I can't tell you how many times we've visited the place during our annual trips to Hawaii. I do know that during one three week vacation we were there 16 times.
Great for lunch after a morning at the pool. Some of the wait staff have noticed how many times we've been there and recognise us year after year.

The beer is great, lots of options and well documented.

That being said, the food was delicious, especially the pizza.

While the wait can be long outside, inside seating is first come first served and we found a seat in there rather than wait.

Its noisy in a good way, excellent people watching and is a perfect place to get some beer and good food!

Hire employees who arent rude. The wait is incredibly long and if you dont drink beer the only other choices while waiting are nasty seltzers. Never coming here again. Feels like a tourist trap for gullible young adults.

We took a 10:30 tour of the brewery in Kona - shout-out to our tour guide Brian, who was interesting and fun. We took part in a generous tasting of four of their beers. The timing was such that we stayed there for lunch, having pizza and beer as per Brian’s recommendation. I had the Captain Cook’s and my husband had the Margherita. It was great! We sat outside to eat on a beautiful day. Another day in paradise.
