This was a wonderful museum dedicated to Ellison Onizuka, a Big Island native. There were many interesting space artifacts in the museum along with fun things for young children to do. Unfortunately it has closed and no date has been posted to reopen.

A neat place that remembers a Hawaiian hero of space exploration. While you're at the airport, and you will be if you're coming here, be sure to check it out. It's well worth a few minutes.

Government closed it down. A tribute to the young Hawaiian who died in the Challenger explosion. Was at the Airport between United and Hawaiian. People wanted it to move to a new venue, but I haven't heard anything.

No longer at Kona Airport due to new construction. No word on if it will reopen or where. Too bad that a local hero loses his place to "progress"

One of Hawai'i's own sons celebrated in this museum in his honor. Hard to visit since it is at the airport. I think they need to move it in town so more people can enjoy.

This was a touching tribute to Ellison Onizuka, Astronaut from Hawaii. Brief and educational. If you arrive early for a flight, it is definitely worth it. If you have kids, an educational trip for them.

As many will tell you, this place really seems more for the kids than anything, but it's still worth a stop while it's there. Sadly, the TSA is taking over the building in March of 2016, and the museum will be closing. Here, you can...More

If you extra time before your flight I suggest you come here. It is named after the Hawaiian astronaut who went into space. This is very good for children as it has many hands on exhibits.

This is astronomy heaven that should appeal to all ages. Enjoy the view and watch the video. Bring a lunch and sit on the picnic tables overlooking the world below.
