It would have been very easy to pass by this little town and its amazing church without knowing what we missed. Luckily my sister was in the back seat Googling the area. Some of my photos show the narrow road we had to walk down from the parking lot to even glimpse the church. This was one of the highlights... More

We had hoped to see the mummies and relics at this church and paid the 15 kunas each to get into the church (collected by a man who seemed oddly disturbed that we didn't march right up to the desk and pay, even though the payment desk is tucked away in a corner at the back of the church and... If you are in the area of Istria, it’s worth paying a visit to the Church of St Blaise at Vodnjan to see the remains of the saints’ bodies which are preserved without having been embalmed. The church member who greeted our small group was very welcoming, a passionate story teller, and quite a character. After a brief tour of... More

Our family of 6 enjoyed a visit to this city and Church! Beware that even though it is hot in Croatia, covering shoulders and legs are one of the requirements to "enter" the Church. We were more than happy to cover-up, because we all really wanted to see the mummies and Jesus Relics. ;) The mummies were just "Wow!" For... More

We queued up for a very long time just to see the mummies. It was a bit disappointing as you can only see then from behind a barrier, so you can't get close. It's also very dark where they are kept, you only get a short time to see what is behind the glass cases due to the number of... More

For everyone who is religion lover. they keep remains of saints, and other religious relics. The bell tower, which is located next to the church looks impressive.

We slipped into this church on a Sunday afternoon. It's stately, huge and with colorful stain glass windows. We talked to a docent at the front of the church who offered us options to see the little museum and/or the mummies behind the alter. The tour of the museum, we were told, takes about an hour and the mummies another... More

Extraordinary. Had a private viewing of the mummified saints and the relics. Church official spoke good English. Very interesting. Beautiful church in a very quiet town. Well worth a visit.

totally worth the visit! even if you're not particularly religious the experience is still very cool. the church itself is beautifully structured both inside and out, and the man that worked there was very friendly and polite. my jaw dropped as soon as i entered the room with the mummies. their stories are very intriguing and their bodies are really... Loved the old Venetian style town in which St. Blaise resides. We were not sure that the church would be open, according to our guidebook, but it was and we waited just a few minutes to have a private presentation of the mummies by one of the Church Staff. One was supposed to have curative properties. Then we were led... More
