Check their web site for days when President Carter is teaching Sunday School. Get up early (be there by 7am) and go. It's a unique experience and you'll get a good SS lesson. Stay for the worship service and get your photo taken with President and Mrs. Carter. On days when he's not teaching, they only have about 35 attending.... More

Be sure to check the web site for information, and arrive early (7 a.m.) in order to be assured a place in the sanctuary. If you do get into the overflow room (Fellowship Hall), President Carter will come through and speak to you before he heads into the sanctuary, and then you can watch everything in the sanctuary on a... President Jimmy Carter frequently still teaches Sunday School here. He is an amazing man and a wonderful human being! His memory is unbelievable at age 92! This is an experience you will not regret. I took my 9 and 12 year old grandsons!

Everything about our church visit was wonderful! It is a well oiled machine and you need to be there no later than 7:30 to guarantee your seat. You are admitted to the church in the number in which you arrived so listen for your number when George greets your car. At 9 AM you are gives directions for what to... More

We picked up a passport book at the High School Museum and headed out to town to collect our passport stamps, hoping to get the medallion at the end of the day. President Carter teaches Sunday School here and serves as Deacon, giving talks as well. It is also a photo opportunity. We were there on a Thursday, so the... More

Amazing experience! We stayed at the Plains Historic Inn so we could go at 8:30am instead of 600am. This worked beautifully. Miss Jan and her husband, George run the church experience like clockwork. She gives an orientation giving you the do's and don'ts. President Carter came in at 10am and gave a wonderful talk on the readings of the day... More

I visited Maranatha on Sunday, November 20th to see President Carter's Sunday School class. I was told to arrive before 7:00 am in order to ensure a seat inside the church. I arrived at 6:10 am--and there were 19 cars ahead of me! But, #20 is a good number and ultimately I was sitting just 20 feet or so from... More

Huge fan of Jimmy Carter and what a special day! We arrived at 7:35 having driven from Columbus, Georgia. We were car number 59 and were last four seated in the sanctuary. The Secret Service agents were very thorough, but friendly and courteous. Wait until you get inside as the portapotties were gross and they give several restroom breaks before... More

Another bucket list item checked. Attended Maranatha Baptist Church and heard President Jimmy Carter give the Adult Sunday School lesson. Superb lesson. 92 and still filled with the joy of life he has always been known for. In order to accommodate all the out of town visitors the church has a host of volunteers who greet you in the dark... More
