The area is beyond beautiful, the lake is a cold water lake, clear as crystal. The fishing is great, and the scenery is spectacular. There is a campground nearby, it's nice and secluded. The Sylvan lake lodge is very nice and the food is excellent....More

The food at the resort resturant was BEAUTIFULLY plated.... Exceptionally tasty and wait staff was TOP of the mark. MARCO and the chef went to extraordinary measures to see the onion garlic allergy in our party was noted and that her dining experience was on...More

Sylvan Lake is picturesque. The park area surrounding it is well kept with restrooms and picnic areas nearby. Parking is adequate. Gift shop and food are nearby. The trailhead for Black Elk Peak is very near the lake. The hiking trails are well maintained.

We didn't know about this lake and just happened upon it. We stopped to enjoy the views. A great place to stop and relax for a few minutes. We enjoyed a quick stop here. Beautiful setting.

This is a perfectly delightful lake hidden in the mostly dry Black Hills area of South Dakota. It's a relatively easy walk all the way around (I think less than a mile) on a good path with only a couple spots you have to climb...More

Nicest lake in the park. Great for kayaking and swimming or just taking a stroll around it. Lots of parking. Good fishing

I have been visiting this place man and boy. Had the privilege of working here, got married in the lodge, and clambered about on the rocks many times over the years. Next trip we hope to bring the oldest grandchildren.

This is a must stop along your way around Custer State Park! The hike is easy for a novice and the beach is beautiful for kids! They have picnic tables everywhere and a nice gift shop.

The Sylvan Lake Lodge has cabins to rent but it's not right on Sylvan Lake itself, but close by. Check it out, it's still an amazing location!

The campground we checked out did. I would recommend the stockade campgrounds or coolage campground for ease to maneuver an rv.

We were there the third week of June and it was too cold to swim. Mostly paddle boards and kayaks were all that was in the water
