We arrived early at the Lake which was good as it was very quiet and the Lake looked like a Millpond. Defiantly worth a visit if in the area.

My son and I camped here on our way west. I always love Custer State Park, but this was our first time at Sylvan Lake. We really enjoyed the hike around the lake, the refreshing swim at the beach, and the campground across the road...More

It was recommended that we stop and walk around Sylvan Lake, which is considered an easy walk. That is true except at the end of the lake there is a section that requires scrambling over rocks... not hard if you are in average shape, but...More

This is a bit of paradise. Take a walk around the lake - there is a small path. Likewise you can stop at the Lodge for a good lunch. Ask for table #25.

The lake is between beautiful backdrop of rocks. It’s a very beautiful sight. We climbed up on of the rocks and spent some time there. It was picture perfect view !

Sylvan Lake has an amazing color and we started our hike to the fire tower at Harney Peak there. The day we visited the clouds reflected in the water and the walkway around the lake is very easy to go.

Small lake where the Needles Road starts (or ends, depending on where you enter)...good facilities during the season with a flush toilet. Several trailheads and an interesting rock formation coming up from the shoreline.

Lovely lake with a moderate walking trail all around it and lots of picnic tables. Hint: walk part way around before having your picnic as the table spots get better and better.

The Sylvan Lake Lodge has cabins to rent but it's not right on Sylvan Lake itself, but close by. Check it out, it's still an amazing location!

The campground we checked out did. I would recommend the stockade campgrounds or coolage campground for ease to maneuver an rv.

We were there the third week of June and it was too cold to swim. Mostly paddle boards and kayaks were all that was in the water
