The ferry is low cost way to get out on the water, and to cross the the mighty Mississippi. We enjoyed our short cruise across the river.

The terminal was filthy but we enjoyed the views of the NOLA skyline, Jackson Square and passing boats during the brief ride there and back. You can’t pay $4 for round trip; instead, you must exit the boat in Algiers and then pay $2 again.

We took the ferry to go kick around Algiers Point for a couple of hours. I was hoping it would be a nice cruise on the river but it’s only about 15 minutes max. $2 each way. As with a lot in NOLA you need...More

We took the ferry back and forth across the river. Nice, quick ride. $2/person/trip which makes it a pretty cheap river tour:) Departs every half hour. Allowed us enough time to go to a few places in the Algiers neighborhood with plenty of timing options....More

Took a walk along Canal Street/Algiers Ferry while visiting. The location's view was magnificent. Was very impressed with the area of New Orleans and would recommend that you visit it when there.

For some reason I have always wanted to visit Algiers, just across the Mississippi from downtown New Orleans. As senior citizens, my wife and I rode it for 40 cents each way (what a deal!!). Just rode over and back which takes about 10 minutes...More

This old boat has seen better days, but when a friend and I wanted a quieter night's stay near The French Quarter, this was the perfect way to get over to the Algiers residential area of the city. The next day we took the ferry...More

Algiers in an adorable town. It was quick and easy (and cheap) to get to by ferry, though be sure to have exact ferry fare (coming and going), as no change is given. Unfortunately, the day we traveled, several businesses were closed (Sunday of President's...More

Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other
parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title
might suggest that this area is all about business and
little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you
away from the Central Business District. The CBD
offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be
touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the
world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts
