On our first day in New Orleans, my boyfriend and I were walking about getting our bearings and trying to find a place to start. The band had just started (early afternoon), so we decided to pop in. Fun place. Drinks are a little pricier than other places we went but were yummy. Also, bathrooms not so great but functional.... More

Really great experience! Great performance inside, plenty of drinks available. There are also girls that just go among the visitors and provide instant drinks to the public. The music is great, the atmosphere is cool, excellent!

We had a great time at the Famous Door. The live music was great both nights we wondered in. Wednesday night was a good mix in the crowd. Thursday felt more college crowd. Typical drinks and prices for the area.

The music is just up your alley. If you were young wheat all the great bands were new, you will appreciate this venue. Great music, great drinks. A great stop on the Bourbon Street walk.

This is a very fun and lively place with a live band. There's no cover charge so you can come and go as you please. The band was great and interacted well with the very enthusiastic crowd. The only downside was the bartender who obviously wanted to be somewhere else.

If you want 80s music, this is your bar! Great live music and Always a good time! FYI drinks are much cheaper during the day than at night but that is everywhere!

I only stopped in for about 15 minutes. They had a rock band going with alternating male and female lead singers. They were pretty good but not awesome. The place was very crowded at about 11pm and it looked like the crowd was having a really good time. What I thought was pretty cool is the list outside the door... More

Off of bourbon street, the music drew me in. Saw two bands that did cover tunes of popular 70s and 80s music. 2 for 1 drink specials early in the evening. Lots of dancing and crowd participating singing. Fun was had by all. Tip bands.

We enjoy visiting the Famous Door when in New Orleans. We like rock and roll music more than rap or jazz so this place suits us to a T. There is no cover and the drinks are reasonable.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
