New Orleans is blessed to have a free open air sculpture garden like this. The sculptures encompass a huge variety of styles and moods; some of them are quite haunting. A must do for City Park

Some really amazing art here. I've been to my fair share of sculpture gardens, but this place ranks on top. Lots of realllly interesting sculptures. The art here is not too abstract like in some other sculpture gardens (no giant pieces of twisted metal or boring geometric shapes). I feel like most of the pieces here can be appreciated by... I really enjoyed the sculpture garden (we did, of course have beignets right before hitting the sculptures). There was a very interesting assortment of art - from Rodin to Oldenburg to Barbara Hepworth to Henry Moore. It is set on five acres of gardens. A very nice way to spend a morning.

This is a little touted must see in New Orleans. Sure, you came for the party and debauchery; but take a day out to explore city park. The Canal Street Trolley, end of the line (away from the river) gives up not only this world class sculpture garden, which may be visited for free; but behind it is a beautiful... More

Beautiful area filled with many different styled sculpture art in different materials. Easy walking through the outside area. Many places to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. All the art is smarting arranged in the area and there is a lagoon in the middle where you can kayak. The kayaks are rented in a separate part of the park.

The sculpture garden is located behind the art museum in the City park. It's free to stroll through. There are many pieces of art to look at in a lush, green park setting. Very nice atmosphere.

The sculptures were awesome to look at and the price was great (free- except for the Uber price to get there). There are a lot of things to look at at City Park but one visit is all you need.

Our entire group enjoyed our stroll through the Sculpture Garden. The shade, the breeze, the works of art...it was a lot of fun (and made for some great photos).

Thank Travis M

Staying in Lakeview

Neighbourhood Profile
Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical Gardens, City Park is a New Orleans gem and the perfect spot for outdoor fun with as much of a mix of culture and/or amusement as you would like. Beyond City Park more great excuses to stay outside beckon, whether on land or by boat. Developed a good deal later than most other New Orleans neighborhoods, Lakeview has a distinctively different look and feel compared to other parts of the city. Fans of mid century modern design and contemporary architecture particularly enjoy leisurely drives around the residential streets of Lake Vista, Park Island and along Lakeshore Drive.
