First off let me just say that the store is FANTASTIC! I visited a few stores and this is the only one that I felt so peaceful in...Needless to say that I lingered after my reading for almost an hour. I had a reading with Fatima...she is the REAL DEAL!! She described people and situations in my life like she... More

My initial experience with Island of Salvation was not a positive one. (Not a big deal, either). Namely, about three weeks prior to my trip to New Orleans, I'd written an e-mail and asked to schedule one hour reading with Sallie Ann for my husband and myself between such and such dates. Two weeks later, there was still no reply.... More

I adore Priestess Manbo Sallie Ann Glassman and Gary. The space is beautiful especially Ricardo Pustino's Marie Laveau right before the entrance. So many things are offered here. Not touristy. Healing. Very knowledgeable and credible people. Her art is beautiful and her gifts are divine. If you are In New Orleans definitely go!

Sally Ann Glassman is wonderful to meet, her readings are beautiful down to earth and reasonable .. The store is small but packed with lovely things for every taste or subject . She's not always in and you should book ahead for a meeting .

Oils are petroleum based, bulk herbs are so old, they have no medicinal value left, entire store is just to promote the owner's bad art and very personal, incorrect beliefs of an ancient religion. Go if you don't mind spending a lot on very little.

Really enjoyed visiting the New Orleans Healing Center where the Botanica is located, and seeing the dedication of the International Shrine of Marie Laveau there, which is right next to the Botanica. Great place overall!

I loved this little spot! I wanted to find a spiritual/metaphysical shop with some authenticity, and this was definitely it! So much to look at within the small space, that I didn't know where to start! They had a lot more unique items than the shops in the French Quarter area, which felt overly commercial to me. Lots of herbs,... More

I have to say that my personal relationship with Sally made this trip well worth while. she was setting up for a perastile that evening. we say the chalking on the floor, the installation of the pole and even got a reading. I suggest you go to the Isle of Salvation and let sister sally tell you all about your... More

Whether you are a practitioner or just curious, this place is top notch. If you want a touristy store, this isn't for you. There are tons of shops in the French Quarter that would satisfy the tourist itch. I had to take a taxi away from our hotel to get here (address listed here is wrong-look up on their site;... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
