Great live music, gets packed with bands and cleared out almost immediately after. Cool painting of spotted cat and apparently a very popular stop for jazz. Lots of seating to watch the bands.

This club has a great atmosphere with friendly faces all round and live jazz music to lighten the mood. A great experience for some genuine jazz improv and a must-visit for anyone going to New Orleans.

Frenchmen Street is a great street for live music! We liked it better than Bourbon Street. Most places were free to walk in and listen to the music so we went in and out of many places. Our favorite place was the Spotted Cat, though...More

This is the place to go if you want to hear some incredible jazz music. I went both nights I was in the city and both groups were just incredible. Very relaxed atmosphere, small space without cover just a one drink minimum

Very basic building but fantastic music when we were there. Minimum purchase required of one drink per person but who stops at one? It gets full and there are no tables, only seats or stools. But still a great place to spend some time.

This was by far my favorite music place all trip. The only complaint I had was it was a little crowded, but if you can manage to find a spot on the wall you will get a seat.

You didn't mention what day of the week you will be going. Weekends are (understandably) much more crowded and earlier. The bands don't always start as soon as the doors open, but I would try to get there no later than say... More

Check the local the back pages of the 'what's on' magazine The Beat for shows and artists. No cover but you will be expected to buy a drink at the bar. Small plastic cup of special drink mix is $9.
