Well we used living social and ended up with a tour for 4 for $80. We were wary because of the cost. We were picked up outside out hotel and spent maybe 20 minutes picking up other participants from different hotels. The driver was informative and full of colorful stories, I didn't really care for his personality but my mother... More

We were only in New Orleans for a short period of time so we thought a city tour would be great. Our tour guide was awesome and very knowledgable about the city! It took you around the French Quarter, Jackson Square, different grave yards, garden district and areas that were hit by hurricane Katrina. You stop at Morning Call Cafe... More

First, let me say the tour guide was great, the places he took us gave us a very good lay of the land, as well as a lot about the history of New Orleans. I would highly recommend this sort of tour. That being said, this company needs to take a hard look at their equipment. Just before our bus... More

We found this tour through a Groupon. We got picked up and dropped off at our hotel, which was nice since we didn't have a car. The bus was nice but the air conditioning didn't work very well. The tour hit most of the highlights of new Orleans, french quarter, st Charles st, the park, a cemetery, garden district, Jefferson... More

This tour is a great introduction to the city. It takes you through the French Quarter, along Frenchmen St up to city park which is beautiful. Along the bay to a suburb hard hit by the hurricane then a cemetery visit and back through the garden district. The driver was knowledgeable and friendly however kept up a running dialogue with... Booked two days prior via Viator and was confirmed by email and over the phone for pickup between 8:30 and 9 a.m. from my hotel. Waited there for over half an hour in front of the hotel, no tour buses anywhere. Called the company and drover had tried to contact me, left completely garbled message where no voice could be... This is a 3 hour city tour that gives a good overview of the city. Other companies give shorter tours and don't cover as much of the city. Ray, the driver/tour guide gave us insightful information about Katrina. You will go into the 9th Ward but not the lower 9th Ward as tour companies will be fined for do so.... More

Had a wonderful tour of New Orleans - our guide/driver had different music for each section of the city we were in. Told great tales about many of the different points of interest. Bus held about 24 people, not crowded. Highly recommend this tour company.

I booked Southern Style Tours via Groupon. I was picked up at (and returned to) my hotel and treated to an afternoon of entertaining commentary and historical information about the city of New Orleans. We were shown a variety of locations and landmarks around the city, and stopped for coffee (and, in my case, a scenic photo op - see... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
