The downstairs Tropical Isle bar presents live entertainment seven nights a week featuring Debi & The Deacons, Captain Leo, Rhythm & Rain and other great bands specializing in Trop-Rock. The upstairs “Top of the Trop” area has a wrap around balcony with a fabulous view of Bourbon Street, big screen TVs, a pool table and a jukebox filled with lots of Jimmy Buffet music. The world famous Hand Grenade, Tropical Itch, Horny Gator and Shark Attack are served at both bars. The perfect place for your special event or private party. Check out our live webcam of the outside entrance and also our live streaming webcam of the stage.

They say you have to have the Hand Grenade when in New Orleans, so of course we ducked into Tropical Isle. The place was disgusting and full of people, with the crowd so big that no one was dancing but everyone was kind of swaying back and forth together with the music. We fought our way to the bar, grabbed... More

home of the infamous drink of NOLA - the hand grenade! this drink, one and you are done! Get the frozen version - it tastes so good! It is served in the souvenir green grenade cup with a mini plastic grenade inside. you cannot come to NOLA and not drink the hand grenade!

Located in the center of Bourbon St. where you can enjoy the location, the locals and the locos! Get a Horny Gator or the signature drink Hand Grenade, sit on the balcony and chillax.

If you've made your way to Bourbon Street. You need to at least try one of the hand grenades. I recommend going with the lighter version, which is just less sugar.

We stopped in to get a famous "grenade" and enjoy some fun Zydeco music. I wouldn't recommend the drink, but the atmosphere and music was great - party environment!

Whenever we go to New Orleans, we make sure to be there Saturday, Sunday or Monday, because that's when Rhythm and Rain play. They are a fun trio and combined with the lethal Hand Grenades, you can't beat the experience. It's always a blast!

Is it the best tasting drink? No. Is it the strongest drink? No. Why is it so famous? Not sure, maybe because the cup? But as long as you can handle the sour sugar rush you gotta do it at least once in NOLA. Its about the experience, and thats why its fun!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
