Very beautiful!

I had the pleasure of running through the park as part of the CCC 10K. There is an amusement park too!

I believe the exhibit is only there till May 2016 but it was why we visited when we did. Simply amazing light structures - from china. $18 for an after dark ticket, free parking. Spent over 2 hours wandering and absorbing beautiful colored scenes! Mostly Chinese-centric designs but some local flair as well - penguins throughout the permanent railroad park... More

Loved the sculpture garden - even walked through despite a rainy day. It was not crowded even though it was Spring Break. Very nice - loved the art.

Beautiful park, one of the largest (even larger than Central Park, New York City) in the US! You could spend the whole day just walking through the oaks and along the lakes and canals. The park is also home to the Besthoff outdoor sculpture garden (free!), New Orleans Botanical Gardens (free!), New Orleans Museum of Art, and two amusement parks.... More

We took the Canal St. streetcar up to the park on a beautiful sunny day. We particularly enjoyed the sculpture garden - very quiet and serene after the chaos of the French Quarter.

Whether you just want a walk by the lake, under centennial oaks, watching squirrels, or a place to jog everyday, this is the place. Beautiful, huge park, with paths to jog, benches to sit, endless grass to picnic, Moss-covered cypresses and many lagoons . Plus you get the Museum of Art and Sculpture Garden all year long, and The Celebration... More

Went twice while in NOLA - once with kids and the other with adults. Fantastic public space with sculpture garden, art museum and cafe, small model train, pedal boats, rentable bikes. Lots of interesting trees and botanicals to look at. The sculpture garden is free to visit and well worth some time.

I spent a lovely day walking around New Orleans City Park. It was really nice to see people on paddle boats and running. The sculptures were really unique and beautiful. I enjoyed my outing.

The picture shown here from Tripadvisor is the Sculpture garden. It is a nice stroll with photo opts and interesting sculptures. it is also free. The NoLA of Art is in front of this garden. Also a good place to visit and cheap, only $10 for adult. The park is quite large, has small lake for boat/bike peddling rental, there... More

We went specifically for the sculpture park, but could have spend several days exploring the park and taking advantage of all the recreational activities. There were boats to rent, bikes to rent, art museum, and just lovely trees.

Staying in Lakeview

Neighbourhood Profile
Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical Gardens, City Park is a New Orleans gem and the perfect spot for outdoor fun with as much of a mix of culture and/or amusement as you would like. Beyond City Park more great excuses to stay outside beckon, whether on land or by boat. Developed a good deal later than most other New Orleans neighborhoods, Lakeview has a distinctively different look and feel compared to other parts of the city. Fans of mid century modern design and contemporary architecture particularly enjoy leisurely drives around the residential streets of Lake Vista, Park Island and along Lakeshore Drive.
