Didn't have a reservation, but a group of 10 of us got in after about 45 minutes. We had a drink in the lounge area while waiting. This place has Jazz in a private area in the back ($15 cover charge), but the music was seeping out into the restaurant area and sounded pretty good. They had started the next... More

Most disappointing squid we have ever eaten. Heavily battered (menu said lightly, clearly we've a different idea on that) and chewy as anything. Was like eating rubber, gave up on it pretty quickly. No seasoning in the batter, not even salt so was very bland plus the 'cocktail' sauce seemed mainly to me just to be ketchup, tasted that way... More

Even in consideration of all of the great music available on Frenchman Street, this venue is a highly recommended stop. Advance ticket purchase, which admits you to a cozy, closed off section in the back of Snug Harbor, is advised. The friendly staff makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter. We were extremely fortunate to decide to see... More

An intimate location but well sorted. Waiter service so that people were not bobbing about during the show.

Nice venue with outstanding performers. It's small bar tables packed into two floors. There's a drink waitress and that's about it. Food is in the restaurant section. My only complaint is that the set was too short. There are two shows per night and I'd prefer to pay for a longer show. All in all though it's well worth catching... More

There is a special saloon for live jazz programs on backside. No any view and sound from street. You should come in, buy ticket, have a seat and enjoy the music. The atmosphere inside is great.

We had the good fortune to see Ellis Marsalis perform here. His show was excellent and it was when we saw him in a venue near our home city several years ago. The Snug Harbor venue is small but excellent for enjoying jazz music.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week in New Orleans! Our week was highlighted by many delicious meals, and Snug Harbor provided one of the best!! Located on Frenchman Street, it is a bit of a walk from Canal Street. But it is worth the stroll or take an Uber like we did. The waitress was attentive... More

We were fortunate to buy last minute tickets to see Ellis Marsalis. This venue is small and intimate and just what we were looking for to see some live jazz..... what a bonus to see a musical legend at that! There is seating downstairs and a balcony upstairs. Someone suggested that the acoustics upstairs are best however, we chose to... More

Not only was the jazz the best, young jazz musicians were featured; the youngest 15 years old.....the young jazz musicians were very professional and were able to keep up with the the old guys who have been around for years. Absolutely awesome music and a truly enjoyable evening.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
