The music was great! We saw Charmaine Neville. Amazing!! A very small venue. Even though we bought reserved seats, it was first come first serve when the doors open at 7pm for an 8pm show. Get there at 7! Avoid second floor. Can’t see quite...More

What a fantastic place - but don't tell anyone! Situated on Frenchmen Street, so away from the razzamatazz of Bourbon Street, this place has a good restaurant and a really, really good bar but its secret weapon is its jazz 'room'. I have to call...More

This place is located in beautiful Frenchman St. The food is very good, the service friendly and the music is great! In the unlikely case that you do not like the performers or you do not get a spot (the music venue is not very...More

This is a cute little place that apparently has some pretty awesome jazz performances, but the big thing that got me was the gumbo! It was the best I had in New Orleans. Just the right amount of spice, and it was delicious. All the...More

We went twice in three days. Both shows were great, if you like that sort of thing. We did not eat their food, but the cocktails were good and the servers were friendly. I would definitely come back for more.

Recommend the BBQ shrimp. Was delicious. We came because of combo food and then Jazz performance in the back (it was fantastic).

Very intimate jazz venue with wonderful musicians. I don't know how crowded it might get normally. I think we were lucky, walking in without reservations for a 10 p.m. show on a Tuesday night to hear the excellent Stanton Moore Trio. Nice table seating, clear...More

If Preservation Hall is the Crown Prince of jazz, Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro would most certainly be the Holy Grail of New Orleans Jazz. I was beyond lucky to get a seat in Ellis Marsalis and his band’s performance, which is by far the highlight...More

The fried shrimp was the best I had in New Orleans--lightly breaded, fresh and fried to perfection. The hush puppies were ok, nothing special, while the asparagus was steamed to a perfect texture. After all that, did we need dessert? One order of bread pudding...More

We listened to a Moroccan guitar virtuoso, Mahmoud Chouki, and his amazing (virtuoso) band (piano, sax, trumpet, base and drums). Arrive early, it is a small place and get a good seat up front (though all seats are good, it is indeed snug). It was so...More

Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward,
the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely
residential. Of course, folks around here love to go
out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere
in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the
festivities, well then so much the better! Home to
some of the most revered live music venues in New
Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining

We would recommend parking a little further away and taking the street car. It is a wonderful experience. We got a cab out of there because that specific street car had closed. Just be sure to check the schedule. Also, on... More

I agree with Stephen. They're in separate locations of the building. I would go earlier and try to get seated in the performance area.

I believe it's between an hour and an hour-and-a-half. We heard Charmaine Neville (of the famous musical family) and she was terrific. She invites other artists up to perform, if they're in the audience, and that's the... More
