Stopped in for a...what else: Absinthe. It was very good and the atmosphere is unbeatable. It's old, it's dark, it's full of history. In my opinion it's a "must do" while on Bourbon street

We went in due to the age of the bar, and I wanted to try absinthe. We grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered one up! The bartender was excellent and the drink tasted much like anise. Interesting. After about 5 sips of the drink I felt very tipsy! Unreal. We enjoyed the experience.

Old, full of character, and great drinks. The bloody mary is bloody good - perfectly spiced with a pickled green bean garnish. We decided to try Absinthe for the first time. If you like anise, licorice, or black jelly beans, you may love it. It was a little strong for us but we gave it the college try. Sadly, we... More

I love the old building and the ritual of a drink of absinthe. The tools alone are so gorgeous! Be careful if you try one - they are strong!

I was very much looking forward to visiting here, as it is quite old. In honor of times past, I ordered a Kubler. When in NOLA, right? This was a one-drink stop for us, so we could say that we have been here.

celebrated my 50th birthday here - the bartender was fantastic - it was early Saturday evening & she asked why we were there - she allowed my bucket list moment of "bourbon on Bourbon Street" to come true with the most amazing bourbon cocktail - highly recommend as not a trashy/loud venue - for the more discerning clientele one could... Our final night in NOLA and we wanted to try absinthe. Two of the young ladies tending bar helped us understand how absinthe drinks are prepared, and we shared a Butterfly Absinthe. This palace is largely open air, dark, noisy and really in the middle of Bourbon St mayhem, but it was across street from our hotel and they did... More

No better place to pick you up from the night before. High bar stools means resting your head on the bar is easy. Go here enough times and you will see a fellow bartender/service worker stop in for a quick shot and a beer before heading in for their shift. I love this place - the people, the booze, the... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
