Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon Aquarium of the Americas immerses you in an underwater world. The colors of a Caribbean reef come alive in our walk-through tunnel, while our penguins and Southern sea otter enchant you with their antics. Touch a sting ray, feed a parakeet, and marvel at our gigantic sharks, tarpon, and rays in the 400,000 gallon Gulf of Mexico Exhibit. Watch for sea turtles throughout the Aquarium-as coordinator of the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program, we prepare many of them for release to the wild.

We had done Decatur and Frenchmen streets the day before. We needed something that was more relaxing and was air conditioned. We've visited some great aquariums, and this one is certainly comparable. The price is a little steep but everything in New Orleans is. The...More

We loved the penguins, the sea horses, the otters, and all the fish. The aquariums were also easy to view and the walkways were wide and well-marked. The parakeet display was so fun and the tropical rainforest was authentic. The 3-D movie in the theater...More

Pretty awesome aquarium! We've been to a few, and this is up there with the best. Lots to see, well laid out so you don't miss anything. 3yr old daughter loved it.

It was not overly crowded on the day we went, so it was relatively relaxing to stroll through the exhibits and view the fish and animals. Otters are my favorite so I was able to ogle them to my heart's content - a nice way...More

Hi Bevmik, Thank you for your feedback! We apologize for any inconvenience during your trip to Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. Sometimes the size of the facility is not necessarily the most important thing to consider when choosing an aquarium to visit. The intimate niches...More

Although we are from Atlanta (the Georgia Aquarium is the 2nd largest in the world), we enjoyed the Aquarium. The have some unique exhibits and the parakeets are really neat.

Was there before Katrina and enjoyed it but this time it was too busy, too many kids, and I did not like the remodel, would recommend spending money elsewhere.

The aquarium in Monroe is an institution, when you go there, you know you're in for a good time! Bring the family, and be sure to bring the kids, they'll love it!!!

Nice wide walkways, family and stroller friendly, the exhibits were beautiful and very informative. Plenty of places to sit and watch the beauty of these amazing creatures.

Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other
parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title
might suggest that this area is all about business and
little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you
away from the Central Business District. The CBD
offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be
touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the
world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts

Hey Angie, Thank you for your terrific review. It was totally awesome and provided a lot of information for our family to decide what we wanted to do. Your pics were also very helpful and you look very happy there. I do have a question though, do you have any info on pre-teen activities?

Is the aquarium a good place to take an active 3 1/2 year old boy? Or is he a bit too young? Is it too crazy in there for him to not ride in a stroller?
