We had the good fortune to be the only ones that day. That gave us more time with Bill and the places he took us. There is a bit of walking but we were prepared. Bill is very knowledgable but also brings his own family history to the presentation. His experience represents the English and German Protestant "Americans" blending with... More

Rosemary is a proud and entertaining native of the city. She did an terrific job of teaching us some of what makes New Orleans different than the rest of the South and the rest of the US. If you find history interesting and appreciate learning how cultures evolve and sometimes collide, this is a great way to spend 2-3 hours.... More

I have been to Nola several times. This tour was awesome. Rosemary is amazing and so knowledgable when it comes to the city and its history. She even recommended a nice spot for us to go eat lunch. This tour is great! I highly reccomend it!

I am a first timer to New Orleans but the rest of my group have visited before. Everyone enjoyed this tour. Rosemary was a wealth of knowledge. Being allowed into some of these private courtyards was truly a privilege. Highly recommend this for newbies like me and frequent visitors to the city.

We just got back from a tour with Bill K. He has so much knowledge of the diverse history of New Orleans, it's a real pleasure spending a few hours in his company. I'd recommend doing this tour as early as possible during your stay as it brings the French quarter to life and gives you a solid base in... More

Frederic was our French Guide for a very interesting Tour in creole history of New Orleans. A tour very well organised and structured following the history of a remarkable Creole family. Frederic was very kind as well as knowledgeable and caring. Great way to learn about this wonderful city in a couple of hours.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone interested in an authentic history of New Orleans. Rosemary was warm and answered all our questions, while showing us four beautiful courtyards and the St. Louis #1 cemetery where the Voodoo Queen, Marie Laveau is laid to rest. Don't miss this tour. Thank you Rosemary!

Even as a local joining out of town friends, I learned new stuff. It was a perfect day, weather wise. We ran a little long but that was ok with us. Bill is fantastic! Thanks for an awesome day, new knowledge and cool stories.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
