My family visited the museum on a vacation and found it fascinating. People have their ideas on how things come to be but visiting a place like this really gives you an appreciation of the heritage! I would go back if in the area again.

I guess I had my hopes up, looking forward to seeing our state Museum. However, it was much smaller than we expected. It would be very difficult to view when school groups, which happened to us, due to limited, narrow space. Had some good exhibits,...More

It's free and there's a lot to see. Covers different periods of Wisconsin, the mining stuff, cheeseheads, all sorts of things. Good way to kill an hour or two.

We loved visiting this museum during our short trip to Madison. We spent about 2 hours here, but could have spent more. The exhibits are outstanding. Staff was very friendly. The suggested donation charge was very modest. We will visit again!

Had it not been raining, we probably would not have ventured inside. If you're looking for a cold or rainy day activity, this fits the bill. If you're an outdoor person, keep walking outside. The four floors of the museum gave a nice overview of...More
